Sounds like Aimee Rinehart is making up excuses to justify her own job. Rare is the reporter who can report and write their own article? Really? It's literally a journalist's job requirement to do both. Or at least it used to be.
Not a coincidence! Script writer Hwang Jin-young said she was inspired by the book, so she created a Korean interpretation of it.
"Seeing my students listening to K-pop, Congolese street bands playing heavily distorted metallophones and Cambodian pop from the golden age before the Khmer Rouge gives me hope for the future." -Alan Williams
In another edition of Youβre Not Korean Enough, we have a contingent of people on the internet who are taking a Korean adoptee to task for not being a real Korean. Why? Because she initially mispronounced the name of a Korean folk song, βArirang." Are you done rolling your eyes yet? Because Iβm not.

MELO MOVIE is an emotionally-engaging slice-of-life K-drama that explores how familial loss greatly impacts who we are today. Lead actors Choi Woo-shik & Park Bo-young are so good at exploring their characters & the traumas that led them to where they are today. (+She initiates the 1st kiss in Ep1!)
"I love to capture eagles in flight, sunsets, a full moon in broad daylight... I once lost a phone that way. There was a beautiful eagle right in front of us. I wanted to capture it clear of the insect spots on the windshield. Oh well! It did not stop me." -Claudia Ferri of "Palm Royale"
Jae: Where would you like to go that you have never been to before?
Sarah: Tokyo. Croatia. Brazil. Peru. Montana. Georgia, the country. Iceland. Nepal.

When a country experiences such fast economic growth, it doesnβt give generations enough time to adapt to modern realities. You end up thrusting people into modernity without changing the structures around them. In South Korea, gender roles within households remain stuck in the past. βClaudia Goldin

"San Francisco was a joy. Iβm from a landlocked state, so when I got there for work and saw the beautiful ocean town, I was mesmerized. I later visited with my family and did all of the activities by the water." - Arianna Davis, "Stumble"
"Growing up as a mixed-race person made me acutely aware of the complexities of prejudice. This had a deep impact on my perspectives from young age. It informed my creative voice in more ways than one." -Henry J. Star in print in the Sunday Chicago Tribune

"My favorite band of all time is the Cocteau Twins. Iβve been on a wave of loving New Order and the Blue Nile recently. When I was younger, I was definitely inspired by French classical music as well, the stuff of Ravel & Debussy was absolutely coursing through me when I was writing." -Sarah Kinsley
βI like that KATSEYE seem to be telling their fans the parts of their lives that could be difficult to talk about in public,β Jae-Ha Kim says. βIt helps a lot of fans with their own issues when you have a celebrity this beautiful and talented and well loved saying, βHey, Iβm going through this too."

LANDMAN films mostly around Ft Worth & parts of Texas where the story takes place. I grew up in Snyder & worked in oil for my dad while I was in high school, so it was awesome to go and portray this character that hit so close to home. -Tanner Beard

Thank you so much! π I think you're the only one who caught that footnote. π
I have a theory that ARIRANG has been a part of #BTS' long-term plan from the get-go. In my latest article, I discuss the relevance of the album title with an ethnomusicologist, as well as Korean elders who lived through trauma and found comfort in the folk song song.π

It's not often that I think of a Korean fable when I review a docu-series, but that's exactly what I thought of during an argument in BTS: BURN THE STAGE. THE TIGER'S WHISKER speaks of patience and kindness. Those traits were always there within them. They just needed a way to channel them.
