How to understand war with Iran? We must get away from propaganda. Facts suggest two interpretive frameworks: a foreign war as a mechanism to destroy democracy at home; and a foreign war as an element of personal corruption by the president of the United States.

Along with a thunderclap, there has to be an exception when the name "Frau Blücher" is mentioned.
I want to believe this is true...
I wasn't outgoing enough and lived off campus, to internet access was restricted.
Can people hear what they are saying? Do they understand now?
Which reminds me, I need to remind @planglois.bsky.social to watch "la haine"...
At least it was a star that fell, and not a galaxy!
I'm not sure I've heard of Gail before (Carolyn Scheppner I was aware of in CATS, and Sharron McGuffie responded to my request for the 2.04 development disks), but she has an interesting story:

Ok, I wasn't going to watch it before, now I am really not going to youtu.be/DTyUni8dbkE
I wonder what the Pitch Meeting would be like...
1. In 2009 I wrote this. I argued that Peter Mandelson's department “functions as a fifth column within government, working for corporations to undermine democracy and the public interest.”
This thread explains what I saw, and reaches a startling conclusion.🧵

Now that I think of it, will he cast Leonardo DiCaprio as the New Guy and the Guy In the Room Next Door to the Room Next Door?
IMHO this is @michaelspicer.bsky.social 's magnum opus.
Christopher Nolan would be impressed.

Statement from Portland, OR, Mayor Keith Wilson following today's unprovoked attack by ICE on peaceful protesters.

Anyone who tear-gases children should not be on your side. If they are, you need a long hard think about yourself.
I can honestly say that one of my pleasures in life is following the developments and discoveries in astronomy. I am not an astronomer, but the reductions in funding it would still affect me, indirectly.
It is my sincere hope that this will be used as evidence for their future trials.
I would like for the political class to take this stuff seriously, and to think beyond their short careers, and indeed, lives.
On this day, 100 years ago, television was first demonstrated to the public by this man: www.strath.ac.uk/alumni/alumn...
He went to to demonstrate colour television and other innovations.
They claim they’re putting personal ambition aside and defecting to Reform to help fix the country.
To stop that pisstaking farce, they should be made to hold by-elections in their constituencies and let the voters decide if that’s ok with them. Please sign.

"Writings from Ancient Egypt" by Toby Wilkinson in 2016 is a fascinating book. Hearing voices from so long ago helps make you realise how similar they were to us.
I speak to you, my heart, so that you shall answer me.
A heart which is touched cannot be silent.
Look, the lot of the servant is like the master’s,
and many things are burdensome for you!
(an extract from “The Words of Khakheperraseneb” circa 1500BC.)
but is painful to answer the ignorant,
and contradicting an opinion creates enemies.
The mind does not accept the Truth.
There is no patience with the reply to an opinion:
all a man loves is his own words.
Everyone is crooked to the core;
honest speech has been forsaken.
I not sure why when while reading this, but I thought of @robinince.bsky.social . Perhaps the mix of literature and the awful state of the world today.
The poor man has not the strength to defend himself
against the more powerful.
Silence towards what is heard is like a contagion,
Who's interests is this for? Certainly not the USA's, Greenland's, Denmark's or the other European nations involved.
Definitely a good one, proper creeping dread in places.
Exactly this. Extreme individualism is a sickness, and is destructive to modern civilisation. I'd say that corruption goes along with it, and the destructive effects it has at from individual to countrywide levels too.
