CityTV shows the US TPiR every day. It does well, as far as I can tell. There is a full and accepted understanding of what makes the show, the show.
It’s not the culture.
Run time of this episode (4 pricing games, one Showcase Showdown, a whole lot of bullshit reality show padding) is around 44 minutes.
I pulled a random old ep of Barker’s TPiR from Tubi and its runtime is 42 minutes and change.
It’s not a decrease in runtime.
When a country brings over a game show from overseas, there’s three main rationales behind their changes:
- culture
- budget
- the sake of change
Price is Right Tonight made a lot of changes just for the sake of making changes. They don’t serve the product, the audience or the brand’s legacy.
