Shader loading should have been improved in recent versions, but a trick that could still work is during your scene startup, rapidly instance and release each of the assets you might need during a loading bar so it gets into memory. Your mileage may vary tho

Good catch! Thank you, just updated it now - and hope you have fun with the Road Generator ๐Ÿ˜€ Feedback always welcome

Relatable - been noticing my M1 increasingly heating up at times... But then finding out it's from 5x instances of blender running non responsive in the background because of (my own) borqd command line script, and don't realize till hours later. Feels like I upgraded my laptop each time I kill 'em

Can't wait for this one in particular, will make placement sooo much nicer - but also something I have a feeling a lot of people will miss given how it'll be a little hidden away

Makin'Paper by Patrick W. Crawford Engine-builder game about making money from racecar spectators

Part two of that goal is to then apply it to one or both of these game jam projects to turn into actual games using the realtime editing.

Yup 100%. It'll take some redactoring of the addon UI code but I actually one day want to expose the native editing interactions (and undo/redo steps) so it exists as its own demo scene, basically simulating having the addon installed.

Also finally adding a readme-level demo of the terrain 3D integration, you maybe had to hunt for this before.

Getting real close to this major #godot road generator #addon update, hopefully tonight! One of the new updates is an integrated navigator between the different demo files, along with a "museum" scene to show off features - more to be added (and better annotated with a UI) in the future.

Then again, thinking about it more, that would just show up as an atmospheric shader which sort of defeats the core look.

What if instead of blurring, you hue shifted / reduced contrast or something for the "out of focus" areas? But I do agree with some others, if yes or no to traditional DOF, I'd vote no.

Not familiar with that game, will take a look!

But I guess the gist is more that it's hard to make puzzle-making fun, and less gratifying to play it yourself, as well as good puzzles are things that game designers pour huge effort and expertise into. They kept pivoting to more broadly fun gameplay.

Why there's no Zelda Maker game
Why there's no Zelda Maker game YouTube video by Thomas Game Docs

This was 10x more interesting than the title. TIL that several zelda games, including the very first one (!) as well as Echos & Awakening's remake, only exist because Nintendo was *trying* to make a dungeon building game and it kept not working so they pivoted.

Also the way in which we nearly maxed out the accelerometer display ha, hard to tell from the video but every turn, speed up, or slow down is max wheel, max pedal, max brake basically

So this was insanely fun, and my first time doing something like it (aside from go karting): Motor track day at the CA BMW performance center, where we learned how to push Mini Coopers to the limit!

This video was my best run - landing me a silver medal for the day #racing #mini #cooper #irl

One "downside" of EVs is that they go through tires faster. One part is due to weight, but I hear that the bigger issue is people don't need to go in for other services, so they skip times they'd otherwise rotate the tires and *that's* what causes them to wear out faster. User problem!

12.02.2026 18:04 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

But at the same time if you've got it working decently enough, then yeah it's a pretty simple solution to use what godot gives you! The alternatives would be quite more complex.

12.02.2026 15:33 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ahhhh gotcha. Yeah I don't know how well the realtime screen capture would keep up, likely gets choppy on different systems. You'd probably want a system that handles the buffer stream in its own process and then memory shares or sock stream to the foreground game. (Just a guess).

What do you mean by overlay tool? Something like this where your UI sits on top of the rest of the screen with a transparent window, or something different? If the former, you can make windows transparent - see the sub quoted post

The only thing you should be accused of is making us all want to stop working on our own games to help you out / encourage you to keep going! Ignore the naysayers. It's not like you posted some ai slop, you actually *made* something (even if it didn't go anywhere/you moved on, still legit)

I'd bet this is part of some longer term "app store for cars" play, which feels like a bad idea. Or maybe they just sunk so much time into making their own render engine for their vehicle screens, instead of using the stock off the shelf ones like from Qt for embedded devices.

Bonus result was, for the few people that partook, you learned how to make modular updates to your game (similar to addressables in Unity)

And my own entry to it. Though UI design is essentially absent, that title screen is just showing the number of pck files uploaded at the same time as the html build, the mini game's code isn't otherwise from the same repo:

We hosted a local "minigame" jam where each entry was a new mini game. Instead of PRs to the base repo, each entry was a PCK export from their own fork of the project. Runtime game loads pcks dynamically. Spent more jam time getting the template working but it did work!

Honestly keeping that constraint just to get something working will probably save you a lot of headache, that's been a challenge for us, trying to solve for a good smoothing between plane (several different approaches, each with different artifacts).

This is some great eye candy, wish we had as smooth of an experience in the one I'm working with! Really nice, slick work there. Is this for a 2D top down game, or is it extending to the third dimension?
