I see this sort of thing all the time and don't think much of it but it's pretty wild when you see it happen to you.
Out of the thousands of social media accounts (some with over 5M followers), only ONE reached out to ask me for accurate information. ONE!
When you see "facts" being shared on big social media accounts, remember, not only did they not fact check, they likely made stuff up, even the images.
Below is the real photo I sent to @cbcnews.ca and the other two are AI generated images that social media accounts made from it.

I was diagnosed as autistic at 36 years old.
I often wonder... who could I have been?
Annual Halloween reminder: If someone comes to your door for candy, give them some.
It doesn't matter what age they are, what they look like, if they have a costume, if they can say "trick or treat" or not... give them candy.

Sure there was but back then you called people the r-word, slow, unfocused, anti-social, weird, freak, or any number of other derogatory terms. Or you just didn't see them at all because they were separated off into other classes or institutions.

Neither of these are true. Researchers found that there are less autism diagnoses but that's because they simply aren't being diagnosed, they don't recognize the signs, they don't go in for an assessment.
