Igor Tudor enacts ghostly role in the most stupid of hires with Tottenham too bad to stay up | Barney Ronay The problem here is not the interim manager, it’s the ad hoc interim ownership and the short-term sense of identity at this ghost town club

“The problem is not the interim manager, it’s the ad hoc interim ownership, the interim sense of identity, the interim sense of care for anything but the commercial project”

@barneyronay.bsky.social on Tottenham Hotspur. A club and team too bad to stay up.

Sarr sinks 10-man Spurs as Crystal Palace plunge imploding club closer to relegation Tottenham are sinking in a sea of venom. Relegation is no longer a distant prospect for the owners of the finest stadium in the country. They have rolled the dice, replacing Thomas Frank with a bewildered Igor Tudor, but their flaws are starting to look overwhelming and lie only a point above the bottom three after their complete lack of unity and cohesion was exposed in this shambolic defeat to Crystal Palace. This is getting all too real. Tottenham have lost all three of their games since appointing Tudor as their interim manager and are not coping with the pressure. Nottingham Forest and a resurgent West Ham are hot on their heels but Tottenham have frozen. They are winless since the turn of the year and could not even kick on after going 1-0 up against Palace. bad news: 3-1 down at half-time
good news: six play-off spots in the championship next season

Burn Anfield to the ground if this lot win there.

Indeed.

Also, please don’t post that again - gave me actual nightmares.

Ladies and gentleman, I do believe Tottenham Hotspur may actually be fucked.

Good food for thought. My tuppenyworth: if a football team makes winning the be all and end all then it should expect that people won’t like it. If you willingly remove excitement, flair, joy then on your head be it. Suck it up.

Glasner was recently banned from driving, after collecting more than 12 points... a points total Tudor can only dream of managing with Spurs.

Still no new contract … which is telling.

It’s a collective failing, and for sure Edwards and Hughes are due a reckoning. But, as you say, the team’s consistently poor displays ultimately rest with the manager. Always been the case. Always will be. Slot simply isn’t capable of managing a club of Liverpool’s size in the bad times, IMO.

Oliver Glasner has got a driving ban for speeding and all I can think about now is how those covering Tottenham vs Crystal Palace tonight work that into their reports.

“While Glasner cannot get behind a wheel for the next six months his counterpart at Spurs increasingly looks out of road …” etc etc

For me it was a turning point because it was proof nothing is going to change under this manager this season - for various reasons - and, increasingly I think, next too. No issues if others aren’t there - and I’ve taken longer to get here than some.

No, Slot didn’t actively make them do that. They did that on their own. But why do they think it’s ok to do that? Because, maybe, it’s become ok to do that, at the training ground and on the pitch. And who ultimately has to take responsibility for that?

If a guy keeps turning up late for work and regularly spills coffee on his keyboard, you sack the guy. If three guys keep turning up late for work and regularly spill coffee on their keyboards, you maybe think about sacking the guy who creates the environment where this has become standard behaviour

Football’s converging moral panics hold up a mirror to our fractured world | Jonathan Liew From grappling at corners to VAR, the endless list of complaints reflects a wider sense of dislocation from ‘the product’

Why do we all hate football right now? Maybe because we all hate life. Also, some men need to use Viagra and that’s absolutely fine.

… everyone’s just exhausted by this season, aren’t they?

Listen, two months to go and then we can all forget about it and *checks notes* gear up for a World Cup in Donald Trump’s America.

‘Only one team tried to play’: Hürzeler hits out at Arsenal after win at Brighton The Brighton head coach said: ‘They are doing their own rules, no matter how they play,’ after Arsenal moved seven points clear at the top with a 1-0 victory

“I ask you one question. Did you see in a Premier League game a goalkeeper going down three times?”

Fabian Hürzeler rages at Arsenal’s time-wasting at the Amex last night.

I don’t hate Arne Slot saying what he thinks - I admire his honesty … it’s refreshing - what I find frustrating is him constantly correctly diagnosing Liverpool’s problems but then doing nothing to solve them - despite being the man whose job it is to literally solve them.
