Trump launches a war against Iran, Russia then sides with Iran and helps Iran locate & kill American service members, Trump then rewards Russia by lifting sanctions on Russian oil.

Tell me again Trump doesn’t work for Putin. Tell me again Trump isn’t a traitor to America.

The role of religion in the war on Iran The administration is framing this as a religious war.

Be sure to check out today's episode of 1A (@npr.org) on the role of religion and Christian nationalism in the war on Iran.

The panel included myself, @katherinestewart.bsky.social, and Nader Hashemi.

I love the idea that *this* US government, which has been nabbing landscapers and five year olds knows where Iranian sleeper cells are but just hasn’t gotten around to doing anything about it yet.

US Navy tells shipping industry Hormuz escorts not possible for now The U.S. Navy has refused near-daily requests from the shipping industry for military escorts through the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the war on Iran, saying the risk of attacks is too high f...

"A maritime security source said securing the strait could require the U.S. to take control of Iran's vast coast.
'There are not enough naval vessels to do that and the risks remain high even with an escort. One or two vessels can be overwhelmed by a swarm (of fast boats or drones).'"

The grim choice facing the Trump administration: Economic or naval collapse? | CNN Business The Trump administration is currently trapped between the specter of a global economic recession and a naval catastrophe.

This #1 article on CNN right now is a bunch experts strongly implying there is no way out of a global economic recession unless the U.S. Navy turns every shore battery and naval base in Iran into a heap of ash, at terrible cost in lives on both sides

Asking Trump to extricate us from this war is not unlike asking a poodle to change a flat tire. Hopefully someone will come along and change it for us but it won't come from any affirmative act he takes, because he doesn't know what's happening.

"War is mankind's most tragic and stupid folly; to seek or advise its deliberate provocation is a black crime against all men. Though you follow the trade of the warrior, you do so in the spirit of Washington -- not of Genghis Khan. For Americans, only threat to our way of life justifies resort to conflict."

"Possibly my hatred of war blinds me so that I cannot comprehend the arguments they adduce. But, in my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive war.
Although this suggestion is repeatedly made, none has yet explained how war prevents war. Worse than this, no one has been able to explain away the fact that war creates the conditions that beget war."

Was browsing the Eisenhower Library site this morning trying to find a quote I remembered.

President Eisenhower, WW2 military hero:

“In my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive war… none has yet explained how war prevents war.”

Weird chart. What happened in 2025 in the US? Did political leadership change and then start systematically dismantling education, science, health care, and government, levying arbitrary tariffs, randomly attacking major US cities, and destroying the economy?

Just asking.

The peace testimony is a conviction that God’s way, as it is revealed in Christ, is a way of peace that rejects the use of coercive force and violent conflict. For nearly four hundred years, Quakers have sought to resist war and practice nonviolence, peacebuilding and conflict transformation. Along with various Anabaptist groups, Friends are one of the Historic Peace Churches.

So basically the two scenarios are:
-the Iranians say “you know what? no hard feelings,” or
-we pair economic catastrophe with a land war in a country that’s kind of like all the worst parts of recent wars mixed up together except across a much larger land area and population
