Fare Thee Well, Ace.
Fare Thee Well, Ace.
Are we really putting horse-race headlines on death notices now? Even sports desks don't do this.
From my 8-year-old daughter.
I've never been prouder.
I was the proud owner of a paper shredder for 5 minutes.
I feel like whomever thought it was a good idea to bring back the string across the front of baseball caps didn't understand it was never cool.
Apparently making pricing more transparent for U.S. consumers is now "a hostile and political act"?

Well, the AI ad age has begun. First one I've seen in the wild, on ChatGPT.
This "feature" is the worst idea ever and exactly the kind of thing that happens when you build for metrics instead of people.
@arstechnica.com Might want to rethink this headline on what's otherwise a very good story. Without context, the message being sent to the 70-80% of readers that won't get past the headline could be quite different from what I imagine was intended.
And just when I think it can't get any better, Been Thinking About You.
This is incredible. Just banging out classics on a 12-string by himself like it's nothing. Give me Radiohead over any of the grunge bands. They/he are just on a whole different level. Mad respect for Nirvana, but they didn't have anything like an OK Computer or Kid A in them.
While I get the apprehension over supporting the other platform, I fear little is being accomplished by the commiseration of nodding heads. Sure, it may feel saner, but the people who need exposure to these reports and perspectives are not here. Would you rather be right or impactful?
I believe a good number are comped for marketing, and probably more importantly, to inflate readership/distribution numbers. Those copies get a higher "pass-along" rateβ anywhere from 4-8 readers per copy vs. the 1.5-3 of an individual subscriber copy.
I've seen vertical sponsorships, but have any outlets experimented with story-specific paywall sponsors? Logistical challenges for sure, but a "This story is available without a subscription thanks to Johnny Walker, who reminds you to drink responsibly," campaign would crush it right about now.
I would pay more for a subscription variant that allowed me to have more gift links, just saying @nytimes.com @washingtonpost.com
That said: it would be better for the country if news orgs would take their huge scoops out from under their pay walls.
Wow. I look forward to seeing what kind of punishment the Chiefs organization will get for promoting the tomahawk chop at their games all season long.

Jurassic 5 should lose a member and capitalize on this.
Curious move when even 77% of the right is concerned about the impacts of climate change.
Ah, didn't realize they were that close
Wait, so did Flea just travel from The Forum to Intuit to perform with Stevie Wonder and Sting? #FireAid
Disappointing GnR couldn't get something together for LA. #FireAid
Watching #FireAid and Alanis Morrisette has apparently not aged since the '90s. Green Day on the other hand...
#FireAid is underway, streaming everywhere - all donations tonight matched dollar for dollar by Connie and Steve Ballmer. fireaidla.org
