Today I learned here in Portland teachers are being asked to either take 3 furlough days or cut 170 full time teaching positions. My son is in a blended class of 4/5th graders because they didnβt have enough money for another teacher. Fuck off
United Airlines made me wait to book a flight to a funeral for several hours with a generic error message two years ago.
My assumption is that something is breaking down on the backend and there's not much you can do until it gets fixed. Unless there's a number you can use to book it via phone.
I'm just glad I live in a state with a Democratic supermajority, where our legislators can scramble together millions at the last minute for the important things, like an arena renovation that will benefit a billionaire
No menopause here but god damn am I feeling too old for this shit.
I can't do what I did in my 20s. I haven't put on MSNOW or CNN. I just cannot deal with all that in full blown menopause with high blood pressure and my asthma all flared up.
Once I was young, and now I am old, etc.
THIS IS WHAT SAM ALTMAN WANTS TO TAKE FROM YOU
ah great, more non-consensual code leaderboards pitting developers against each other and pushing them to do more work for free
people voted for him and then 10 minutes after he took office the swing voters all went βoh right, this guyβs a piece of shitβ. idiot fucking country
On top of everything else I'm gonna have to remember Jill Stein exists. Heavens.
Night Traffic
how "out of town" are we talking about here? I would not expect any USian to react this way.
My neighborhood is full of blooming spring flowers, I'm kinda freaking out about the summer we're about to see.
I never get tired of your low opinion of PlymRock
Today's Bitch Mag reprint is from 2018, but it feels as relevant today as ever: Dejan Jotanovic explores what the feminization of AI means for, you know, actual women.
You cannot develop technology without understanding obsolescence and the fact is that this whole generation of silicon valley "leaders" are obsolete. They have literally nothing to offer except each other's recycled dumbfuck ideas
Yeah, we got here after half a century of hard, incremental, ground work by conservatives.
Recovering from this is likewise the work of generations, and is bigger than just winning the next couple elections.
if youβre mad that i profiled will instead of writing about what βreally mattersβ in minneapolis, may i direct you to my 6,500-word feature on the mutual aid networks there:

Itβs extremely funny that Loretta Smith and the Portland Police Association took an incident where people would largely be sympathetic to the idea that the public should not jump over tables to confront councilors and responded by saying councilors should be armed against the public lmao.
I'm gonna try it. All love to your grandma's memory!
Fuck Grok
"Is there technology the left is excited about?" is the kind of question you only ask if you're wildly naive about technology.
mRNA vaccines. Heat pumps. Offshore wind. Urban mining. Sodium batteries.
But god forbid we're not fawning over every new implementation of Making Computers Bad At Math.
Weβve come full circle
I know this makes me an extremist but I think our baby concentration camps should be abolished.
Dat Age of Blood Cover π
Iβm sure this dude is fine. He does have a Nazi tattoo. And says women whine about sexual assault in the military. And that black people are stupid. But gosh darn it he says heβs a progressive, and since heβs white and male, who can really say whatβs in a personβs heart.
So dapper!
