Graph showing daily new packages being uploaded to NPM for the last 12 months and showing a lot of growth since the start of 2026.
Yesterday we saw the most _new_ NPM packages being released in the last 12 months, at 2804 packages.
Pretty steady upward trajectory here, unlike we've ever seen. This graph is spiky because it's daily data and weekends are lower.

With Iran War, Kalshi and Polymarket Bet That the Depravity Economy Has No Bottom
Gambling markets have conveniently found a stance that allows them to continue to profit from death and war.
prediction markets' depravity economy is the culmination of deregulation and kleptocracy, lobbying to legalize sports gambling, the collapse of advertising markets, hustlebro culture, crypto, memestocks, ai bubble ... venn diagram of horrible:

Programming has always been a hobby and I found in recent years that the hobby part needs to be somewhat removed from the work part for it to be fun for me π¦«

Screenshot of a cute web-based gopher client.
Some progress this weekend from my new Gopher client. Might do a Gnome port at some point.
Not a fan of the design inside the main frame yet, so most of my creative effort will go there next

Well, some progress. Not unhappy!

Anyway, today's idea is to build a Gopher browser with a colorful Windows 3.1 / Nintendo DS / fantasy console / pixel font vibe. We'll see how far I get before getting frustrated with my limitations π₯² [2/2]

I'd definitely recommend doing a good test before you go all in. Switching cost is a bit high.

It's really just the user experience and browser integration. Often misses fields , copy paste is often broken in Wayland. Lots of little paper cuts basically. Ymmv depending on platform. Maybe it's better on chrome and apple for example

Yeah enpass also did a rugpull which is when I left. I'll probably switch to bitwarden in the future because keepassxc is painful but it requires running a server (which I now have)

I've used bitwarden , and both enpass and keepassxc for years. What is the reason for a switch? Keepass is a simple open format with lots of open source clients but UX is a bit rough .

GitHub - DecimalTurn/toml-patch: Patch, parse, and stringify TOML while preserving comments and formatting.
Patch, parse, and stringify TOML while preserving comments and formatting. - DecimalTurn/toml-patch
And the only reason I know about this release is because I've started to maintain a TOML parser in 2025.
I still don't see this new syntax being used a lot as goes against the usual style of a TOML file, but we'll see.

I really wish security vulnerability reports had more discernment over whether something represents an actual risk. Every report, we get flooded with ESLint issues demanding immediate upgrades even though there's no real exploit for ESLint. It's such a waste of everyone's energy.
