View over a stone wall into fields. The nearest field is all visible. It has grass and some small hills and ruts. A track has been made by repeated car tyres. On the track, a small family car racing. After the end of the track, a group of people and vehicles including low loader 'recovery' vehicles, entrant cars and other vehicles. The sky has huge ominous layers of grey cloud. It looks pendulous.
Motorsports and mechanics across the way today - under a pendulous sky...

It really would be such a stress-reducer for any family in your position to know you still have power and don't need to find some quickly. That's honestly a bonus I hadn't considered at depth before. People always just mention financial and climate/Earth cost.

Well that definitely seems prudent and sensible! I'm not sure how my neighbour has theirs wired up, and it's 15-20 years old, but I don't think they have much battery storage because they didn't mention it during Storm Eowyn and were also on candles, twinkly battery lights and log fires.

Oh nice! This is something we hope to achieve in about 5 years. One of our neighbours has them and with the offsetting her electricity bill is only about £15 a month.

I think it has the potential, and curating your feeds definitely does help, but people generally interact less on social media now - there's a lot of 'watch 30 second video, click like, move on'. It's harder to get a chat going, almost impossible for it to gain traction like on Twitter.

I didn't share this fortnight's virus news update - sorry ajd all. It's so manic with the kids off, and 16yo starting his first job. Anyway.. this week we have a measles update - though no UK update, and news about cancer, H5N1 and of course COVID, including Long COVID...link below

This was 12 years ago. No regrets. Haven't broken a toe since. (Probably tempting fate saying that).
Straighten it, or straighten it later.

My sticky out toe was not meant to be. It stuck out, and barefoot I hit it often. Had a particularly nasty one against the kitchen door and knew it was broken and this was my chance. Got tape, gritted teeth, taped it straight. 6 weeks later and I have the perfect foot, and can wear boots.

I broke my toe like that! My OH had meningitis at the time, so it was the least of my worries. Popped on flip flops and carried on. Winter came.and I couldn't get in shoes or boots. Nothing. I was still in flip flops. Fortunately nature is on hand to solve things...

I must get back into BlueSky. I loved it, recommended it, used it loads, then took an extended break from all social media, then went on holiday, and now I'm back 😎

Photo of the telly, showing the bottom half of the 3 female commentators. The person far left is wearing a blue trouser and jacket suit, which is at least 4 inches too long, so long in fact that she keeps standing on her own trousers. In the middle screen a silver bowl shaped table, and 2 other commentators wearing fitting trousers.
Hands up if you're wearing someone else's suit...

Matt Hancock defends moving hospital patients to care homes in Covid crisis
Sending untested people into homes to free up beds was ‘least worst decision’, former health secretary tells inquiry
I don’t think that I will ever understand the speed with which British political culture has forgotten that, only a few years ago, 46,000 elderly people in care homes died as a result of government policy.
