I think it depends on the character. For my main characters, they know they have been together before and will be together again, so they don’t see death differently. But as they travel their arcs, they view who they are and what their source is differently.

I feel like the trees in the distance are words growing toward the blank field page. I love that your words form a page unto themselves.

This is a good question. I think it has to be for very dramatic, sacrifice-yourself-to-save-the universe situations.

Reincarnation is important in my current novels, especially for my main characters and their romance. So, everyone comes back, anyway.

I just finished re-reading The Hobbit and noticed that, too. The way Tolkien moves from long, atmospheric descriptions to almost folksy asides to the reader is both inspiring and freeing.

I have no doubt that aspects of myself and people I know find their way into my characters, but none of that is intentional. My protagonists are created because I want their specific voice in the story. Other than that, I think I am creating friends. 😀
