A blessing for our third week of Lent.

People with a supremacy mindset don't let pesky things like the actual thoughts or opinions of others change their beliefs/perceptions. A lot of Americans do this with Europe. It. is. a. lot.

War is bad. There is no nobility in violence. If your understanding of yourself, your nationality, or your identity requires you to force it upon others by force, I've got bad news for you.

Let us move towards the end of supremacy, and into a future of equality and inclusion.

That same story has replayed itself too many times to count now. These affiliate networks of independent churches are nimble but seem unfit for purpose if they cannot discipline & protect people from predatory/abusive pastors.

When the pedophilia cover-up came to light from Hillsong and almost none of the charismatic world shifted (distancing from Hillsong's media/songs/approach/etc, implementing rigorous safeguarding, etc) I checked out. The fruit of a faithful life is a Christlike life - not entertainment complexes.

I've been living in France for a decade now, and so my awareness of American/Midwest/MN discourse has faded a bit, but I am also far more aware of the outsized presence that US politics and news has on the rest of the Western world.

It is also wild watching the US lose that influence in real time.

Clergy sexual abuse is not an affair; pedophilia is not about struggling with difficult circumstances; molesting adolescents is not about a struggling marriage. Such things must be called by their right names—the abuser needs to be held responsible for his/her abusive behavior.

The number of 2000s point and shoot cameras I see 20 somethings with here in Paris is suprising. Every time I'm out I see at least one. I mean, how many Canon Powershots can still exist in the world?

The Sunday Vespers will continue to work. Monday is not yet translated. Our current focus is on getting the daytime offices for the weekends done for the full year, we'll then fill out the days of the week. Compline was the first part to be completed (as it's only one week).
