yeah i've done that way too many times, back when i used to use nautilus.
Large snowy landscape in Minecraft 26.1-snapshot8 running at a locked 144fps vsync with 32 chunks.
The latest 26.1 snapshots are interesting as well, they have pretty substantial perf gains over the last stable release, 32 chunks is practically a non issue on vanilla where as previously it was a non starter just due to the amount of hitching and stutters.
it'll deffinitely help, minecraft was held back on opengl versions to better support macos, and afaik the version it's on doesn't even have multidraw. the render thread shouldn't be getting hurt nearly as much either, opengl does have a fair amount of cpu overhead just due to it's architecture.

seeing people complaining about minecraft switching to vulkan and like, why?
it depends what version of vulkan they target but if they target vulkan 1.0 (like godot does for it's minimum) or vulkan 1.1, the vast majoraty of gpus will still be able to run the game, my old gtx 880m supports 1.1! [1/2]
happens a lot to me in wayland mode if i try and drag a tab on to another monitor, it seems to just break the tab bar until i restart that window.
