A kitchen counter with a cursed square waffle and cursed waffle iron on it with that โoptimally packed 17 squaresโ layout that is deeply unsettling to look at. The outer parts are aligned to a square but there are 7 squares in the middle at various angles and it looks like complete nonsense but it is in fact the most compact way to store 17 squares in a larger square. I have no idea where this came from and whoever made it should go to jail.
You may not like it, but this is the optimal way to construct a waffle with exactly 17 squares.

In other personal news, I finally came up with a solution to one (1) of the Opus Magnum bonus puzzles. The bonus content has always been way too hard for me but I finally got there.
I have SEVERAL technical questions. Not least of which is if theyโre โlittleโ models theyโre going to be much worse at exactly the kinds of things theyโd specifically need to be good at for this.

You make your solve, go to reddit and you see the face of god in the maddeningly elegant solves of your betters.
haha wait there were some extraneous instructions in that last one...managed to get it down to 129 cycles from 141 with the same layout. Still well within the comfortable middle of the performance histogram though...
