I like the term Ambient Landfill as a new genre description. Close relative of Modular Landfill and its bastard sibling, Ambient Modular Landfill.

We (Gamine) made an album of lullabies, the idea being that the audience would fall asleep and we'd be able to nip off early. Didn't quite work out...

It's so long ago, but IIRC the sounds were mostly done with the ESQ - it was one of the first workstations so we synced it to a Roland TR-707; I also had a Roland SH-101 which might have been on the faster tracks.

A bit more minimal than today's setup!

Works either way. If I hear something interesting I read about the artist, or if I read about something interesting I give it a listen...

Ha! Thanks! Both BPGB albums were programmed solely on the ESQ-1 - we could only afford a week's studio time (recording & mixing) per album, so we synced & overdubbed each ESQ sequencer track to tape before doing the live stuff. Always great to hear people remembering or discovering BPGB. #Bandcamp

The ESQ-1 was my first proper synth / workstation. Did a couple of albums on it (and the Mirage sampler) back in the 1980s, but I imagine putting it into some pedals, especially some of the more esoteric modern ones would make it fly. Glad to hear it's still going strong!
