We hold these monthly events in the park to help clean up the litter, plant new flowers, clear leaves, and generally help to look after and improve our local green space and park in Old Moat.🌳

Could Manchester be a model for the UK to kickstart growth? With an annual growth rate of 3.1%, Manchester's economy has performed twice as well as that of the UK as a whole.

Manchester built and completed 791 new low carbon and affordable homes in 2025, including 467 for social rent. The most for 15+ years.

We have a further 1,500 affordable homes on site, which includes 850 new homes for social rent.

Gorton is one of the district centres that @manchesterlabour.bsky.social is helping to improve and invest in further in Manchester.

We have delivered a new Gorton Hub that includes a new library, new town square, investment in the market and 100s of new social and affordable homes are being built.🏡

It was brilliant to be in Gorton recently with local Labour Cllr John Hughes to see the recently completed social and affordable homes on Blackwin Street and Vallance Close.

These 7 family homes built on former brownfield and council land will be a great addition for this local community in Gorton.

Housing is a key issue in Gorton and Denton, so it has been good to work with @manchesterlabour.bsky.social local councillors on the delivery of 100s of new social and affordable homes in recent years, alongside a number of landlord licensing schemes to tackle issues in private rented sector too.🏡

I will be sitting alongside Keir Starmer at the PLP this evening as Deputy Leader with my full support.

He & I have been discussing in recent days, & before, how we need to do better to take the fight to Reform (as we are doing in Gorton & Denton) & by showing we are on the side of ordinary people.
