Good night talking with our residents on Mouldsworth Avenue and Siddington Avenue in Old Moat this evening.🏡🌳🌹🐝
Excellent campaign session today in Old Moat on Mouldsworth and Stanthorne Avenue. Lots of support for @manchesterlabour.bsky.social and all we doing for Old Moat and Manchester.🏡
Pleased to also see the new pavement and road resurfacing and road name signs on Combermere and Oldcastle Avenue too.🌹

Thanks to Southway Housing for the invitation to help open the new Emerald Way development in Chorlton.
Shared ownership schemes like this can help more people onto the housing ladder, alongside creating energy efficient homes and local job opportunities.
The Labour Government’s economic plan for Britain is delivering results

Really good to work with the local Labour councillors for Gorton and Abbey Hey ward, who are strong community champions for their area and helped support the delivery of new social and affordable housing in their local community.🏡🌹
🏡 More new homes in Gorton.🌹
75 new social and affordable homes at the former Peacock Centre sites.
13 social rent homes on Cross Lane.
34 affordable homes for young Care Leavers on Chapman Street.
Significant investment in Gorton Market and Gorton Town Square.
All for the local community.🏡🌹🐝
We delivered 795 new social, council and genuinely affordable homes in 2025, including here locally in Withington.🏡
Our new Manchester Labour budget will help us accelerate that delivery and continue to build and invest in the homes that our local residents need in Manchester.🌹
We hold these monthly events in the park to help clean up the litter, plant new flowers, clear leaves, and generally help to look after and improve our local green space and park in Old Moat.🌳
Sunny afternoon in our wonderful Old Moat Park helping the amazing Friends of Old Moat Park group with their monthly litter pick, clean up, and gardening session.
They are a fantastic group of residents and volunteers who do so much to help invest in and improve this green space in Old Moat.🌳
Great to have our monthly market back on Copson Street in Withington Village for 2026.
Come and enjoy the stalls, and all that is on offer, including live music and arts and crafts for the kids.
Takes place every month on the last Saturday of each month in Withington Village, from 10am to 4pm.🛍🐝
Budget meeting at Manchester City Council. Cllr Akbar proposing a transformational Manchester Labour budget to invest in our communities inc. further funding to deliver more social, council and affordable housing in addition to 795 new affordable homes completed in 2025, with 60% at social rent.🏡
Pleased to see Withington Walls and our community in Withington featured here. The Marcus Rashford mural is a great message of hope over hate - good to see our local schools engaging with the new learning resource that has now been developed.

It's polling day!
Vote for Labour's fantastic candidate Angeliki Stogia.
Labour are the only party that can stop Reform.
Vote for unity and hope over division and hate.
Out supporting Angeliki Stogia in the Gorton & Denton by-election today.
Angeliki will be a strong local voice rooted in the community, hardworking and committed to delivering for residents. If you live locally, make sure you get out and vote. 🌹
Vote for Angeliki Stogia in the Gorton and Denton by-election today.
I've worked with her for many years in Manchester planting trees, building social housing, and investing in our communities.
Vote for Unity, not Division, and someone who will truly stand up for everyone in Gorton and Denton.🌹🏡

A must read from Angeliki in @theguardian.com as we nearly head to the polls in Gorton and Denton 👇🏻

Good to see continued support for Withington Walls - and for the new educational resource inspired by their Marcus Rashford mural. A brilliant tool for schools and families, celebrating community, hope and Manchester’s creativity:

Great to see our plans progressing for this further investment in Wythenshawe. Alongside Moston, Gorton, and Withington, @manchesterlabour.bsky.social is delivering improvements to our high streets all over the city, with lots more to come in 2026.🏡🌹🐝

Manchester built and completed 791 new low carbon and affordable homes in 2025, including 467 for social rent. The most for 15+ years.
We have a further 1,500 affordable homes on site, which includes 850 new homes for social rent.
Good progress made, lots more to do.

We're going to war @mancitycouncil.bsky.social on tackling fly-tipping and the scourge of rubbish in Manchester.
An awful crime when it happens, and our local residents in Old Moat and all over the city want to live in a clean and tidy community.🌳♻️

Gorton is one of the district centres that @manchesterlabour.bsky.social is helping to improve and invest in further in Manchester.
We have delivered a new Gorton Hub that includes a new library, new town square, investment in the market and 100s of new social and affordable homes are being built.🏡
It was brilliant to be in Gorton recently with local Labour Cllr John Hughes to see the recently completed social and affordable homes on Blackwin Street and Vallance Close.
These 7 family homes built on former brownfield and council land will be a great addition for this local community in Gorton.
Housing is a key issue in Gorton and Denton, so it has been good to work with @manchesterlabour.bsky.social local councillors on the delivery of 100s of new social and affordable homes in recent years, alongside a number of landlord licensing schemes to tackle issues in private rented sector too.🏡
I will be sitting alongside Keir Starmer at the PLP this evening as Deputy Leader with my full support.
He & I have been discussing in recent days, & before, how we need to do better to take the fight to Reform (as we are doing in Gorton & Denton) & by showing we are on the side of ordinary people.
📣 The Christie and Buccleuch Lodge, alongside 190 other NHS sites, will save money on their energy bills thanks to Great British Energy.
🌹 That’s the difference this Labour government is making.
