first make a model with UVs nicely placed so they are easy to move in the shader later, and a texture with all the variations.....
Write a custom shader that just moves the uv based on a parameter, this is fairly easy

Yeah I think about this sometimes, to ask the good questions/give good directions, it's good to have some intuition about how things scale, how CPUs behave etc (I am a backend dev), but for me that intuition came from writing code line by line, how do people get that if they start with cc....
The most interesting thing about Claude code and similar tools is now we have a negative interest rate on tech debt. If it takes 10 days to clean up now then it's gonna take 7 days in 2 months. But I don't feel people are acting like that yet.
