I'm sure they'll think of something. We've had, Ayane hunting Kasumi, Clone Kasumi v Ayane, "Possessed" Ayane v Kasumi. I'm expecting a friendly sparring match in the next story mode or a plot twist.
I can't wait to see what "DOA Project" has in store for us Kasumi vs Ayane wise.

Dead or Alive 6 was kind of interesting in that it seemed to be toning down a bit of what the series was known for at the start before just devolving into it anyway- which in stark contrast, the announcement of the new one just bares it right away so I wonder if it'll go the opposite direction
