The worst Black politicians know they can count on scared and ill-informed Black elders to keep them in office.
They did this in Detroit over the last few years. I don’t care for them, but the old Black people voter base loves them.

What makes this nasty is how neoliberalism or just capitalism strips people of the capacity to imagine better so incremental change is unrealistic but things getting worse is very realistic. At the same time things get incrementally worse b/c fear has you in a cycle of holding on a shrinking crumb
