It's Friday

Yep!
Got a paperback copy of The White Dragon when I was around 10, and it had a place of honour on my headboard.
kindle book pre-ordered on dec 31, 2025.
Wooo, Past Scott was on it!
I'm usually so disappointed in him.
The index of authors is insane: here's the index of authors in full. Each person was asked to write a short piece about one specific thing they care about. The result is a book about EVERYTHING.
(And it's affordable, < $20 paperback)
Addendum:
When posting about it, also throw the title into text somewhere. Don't make me squint at a screenshot/video, or click through to a profile.
I may want to highlight/google to find out more.
Users may be lazy/busy, and it's easy to keep scrolling.
Pixie stands on the back of a chair and attempts to climb a door frame in an attempt to reach the ceiling
Ha!
Peeps also saw a bug on the ceiling and was very interested in getting to it.
Helping! Always helping.
Let AOC take the helm.
You and Schumer are useless. We want real leaders with a progressive vision, not feckless hand-wringing.
two kittens, grey and gold, asleep on a bed
a sleepy gold kitten drapes himself across an arm holding a kindle.
The wee babbies:
Peeps used to sleep at the foot of the bed, or across the room, but has recently started sleeping by the pillows.
When I'm reading, Ham loves to come help out and make sure he's part of the process.

God I hate this stuff. usehatchapp screen shot: "AI isn't a tool, it's the revenue growth engine for service businesses"
Yesterday I found out that the plumber who came to bid a job last week was using an LLM chatbot to text me weekend mornings.
Didn't hear anything today about the very annoyed replies I sent.
They went from top of the pile to the bottom.
Businesses - just don't do this.
As a PNWer, it's been fun seeing your pix & experiences here.
Can't wait to read it!
Bold rebrand of doing jack squat.
You and Schumer are worthless. Let AOC lead!
But when they were on, there were performance issues that had to be fixed by disabling through reg tweaks.
The point is that things like this should be OFF by default, and require users to opt-in. Not opt-out.
Also, they should be blocked by default, and require users to enable them.
It's really annoying when "features" are added and enabled by default.
Appreciated, but still:
* Did anyone bother to poll users before adding these?
* How much time was spent on adding them (and now, adding settings to block them) which could have been better spent on actually useful features?
Also, their services are terrible.
Use them. Lost my phone. Ordered a replacement. They sent the wrong one (a Samsung, which wasn't listed).
It took a week to approve the return shipping. Then a couple weeks back. Then it sat waiting for processing.
Time w/o phone: 5 weeks.

Baby Bellla, thoughtfully cleaning up toilet paper that someone dragged through the living room
Look, I came across this scrap paper and attempted to clean it up for you.
What?!?

Sara,
People don't just want someone with a (D) by their name any more. "Pragmatic" = status quo. We've tried that. We want leaders with Progressive values.
If you can't look at AOC and Mamdini and see which way things are going... enjoy your retirement!
It's just grift and nazis all the way down.
Just realized YT hasn't been showing me your weekly vids since like Blue Prince #4...
Garf-Hulud - Garfield as a sandworm
Unrelated, but I saw this, and was amazed that it wasn't you posting it.
Should be @scottstein.bsky.social , but I appreciate the thought!
We finished it eventually.
I think we were most put off by all the grunting, of all things.

Silly little guys are the best.
Just learned about Leigh Brackett. Amazing.
Not only adapted The Big Sleep with William Faulkner, but also started The Empire Strikes Back with Lucas, until her death.
Miracle of science - amazing dual-coloued cat!

Do you not read ::checks notes:: The Guardian?
This isn't breaking news. Your paper wrote about it already two years ago.
