PEGI to give 16 age rating to UK games with loot boxes The new changes by the Pan-European Game Information age-ratings body (PEGI) will start from June.

"In reality, it will largely be down to parents to educate themselves on why these changes have been brought in and decide for themselves if they deem the games (and their loot box mechanics) suitable for their child," @h00dwinked.bsky.social said.

PEGI's loot box rule changes are welcome, but they should be retrospective | Opinion Because the rule only applies to new titles, the biggest and most popular games with loot boxes will escape being subject to PEGI's higher age rating

My reactions to how PEGI will rate games with hashtag#LootBoxes 16+ from June 2026. Nice, but 99% of games won't be affected because the rule only applies to newly released games.

I Watched 6 Hours of DOGE Bro Testimony. Here's What They Had to Say For Themselves The hours of videos provide fascinating, or perhaps horrifying, insight into the thinking of someone inside DOGE.

So @josephcox.bsky.social watched over six hours of this deposition featuring DOGE staffer Justin Fox who, when asked how he defined β€œDEI” kept saying he needed to refer to the EO.

Highlights here:

The CNRS is breaking free from the Web of Science From January 1st 2026, the CNRS will cut access to one of the largest commercial bibliometric databases, Clarivate Analytics'

The use of impact factors in the evaluation of researchers has contributed to the distortion of scientific publishing practices and research practices, noted France's CNRS as it walked away from Web of Science, using $$$ saved to promote #OpenScience & #OpenData. www.cnrs.fr/en/update/cn...

Congress Is Considering Abolishing Your Right to Be Anonymous Online The bipartisan push to remove anonymity from the internet is ushering in an era of unprecedented mass surveillance and censorship.

Trans ppl under attack from the govt could be identified and outed w/o their consent.

Undocumented immigrants would be cut off from the ability to communicate w advocates.

Young ppl seeking abortions won't be able to access info safely and anonymously.

This is what congress is advancing today πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Hey ChatGPT, write me a fictional paper: these LLMs are willing to commit academic fraud Mainstream chatbots presented varying levels of resistance to deliberate requests for fabrication, study finds.

Why tenured academics and administrators insist that using this technology is unproblematic and just how the future should work with none of our input is baffling to me. Feels like a modern cargo cult.

Meet three scientists who said no to Epstein The warning signs included a web search, a mother’s doubts, and inklings of a β€œsexist attitude”

How did these men know to stay away from Epstein? One googled him, one asked his mom for advice, and one actually listened to what Epstein said to him and quickly realized he was a witless misogynist.

It wasn't that hard, and every scientist who claims they didn't know is either lying or stupid.
