The version of Ash AI demoed at Goatmire???
Dang. I used to like them.
(because we are in the dumbest timeline I must point out that I am joking)
He says the things that scientists are afraid to!
Yeah the extra ram can be helpful (serving more files from cache, etc) but it isn't required. I think a lot of info online conflates the two.
ZFS is awesome and I use it as much as possible!
We have some servers around that generation at work (though not that exact one) and there is a possibility of power plans. Usually performance and efficiency modes are available. I heard efficiency mode (or whatever name it is) should reduce idle power draw, though I'm not sure by how much
I didn't know about that. The hexdocs links in particular always get me with the old versions. Thanks!
No problem! I'm sure my experience with Typst made me read it a certain way, too. Its mostly used for generating letters that go in the mail for us. We have images that can be uploaded and put into the letter (like logos and such)
Hey Jaime, I'm glad you're liking it! I think you want to use based: `#import "@preview/based:0.2.0": base64` and then I think I did something like `#let raw-image = base64.decode(base64-image-string)` and then `#image.decode(raw-image, format: "png")` (or the image format it is). Hope this helps!
Typst is wildly fast! It's one of my favorite technologies at the moment because of how tricky and slow using HTML to PDF has been in the past
Yeah it's here: hex.pm/packages/typ...
I've used it pretty extensively so far and it works great for my use case but there might still be some rough edges or missing functionality. I need to push a new release that will update Typst itself to 0.14
Nice! I only had minor ergonomic preferences, the other two Typst libraries looked fine at the time. I think what I preferred was passing the variables into Typst rather than using EEx interpolation since I didn't want to teach end users EEx and Typst (hopefully I'm not misremembering lol)
Typst is the only way I'd generate PDFs programmatically now as well. Chromic was very unreliable for me (but every other Chrome library was too so I don't blame them, I blame Chrome).
I learned about Typst at Goatmire and when I got home I made my own Typst library and havent looked back (typster)
All they need is some 10X engineers and they'll be good to go! Preferably with crypto and chat prompt experience!

I just checked this morning and it works. I was hoping it would stack on the savings they have now but apparently not.
Yeah that sounds like it could be a good stack. I'll have to check it out!
Yeah I liked the idea of it but by the time I got around to giving it a shot it looked like it was stagnated and people moved on. It's cool that it works with React, I'll have to check it out. Especially when ash_typescript exists... ๐ค
This sounds like a fun thing to look into! I didnt know about it. I've always liked the idea of Elm but it seemed like kind of a dead end to me... This is interesting!
I've followed the same basic path too. So far I'm happy enough with apple music. I do wish there was a Linux app too but I know there's about 0% chance of that happening
That looks super good! Bagel sandwiches are the best
Chat with (Republican) Jesus
Oh boy. Is that one that requires outside auditors and whatnot? Sounds fun!
Did he say that Chicago only saw a fraction of the agents that Chicago got?
I thought more or less the same thing when this came out. Lots of folks make dumb decisions when they're younger and there are a few folks out there who renounce their far right views. Instead he decided to tell the most implausible lie he could think of
I would like a koi pond but we have too many cats in my neighborhood lol
It's a great series! I usually watch it at some point when we pick up HBO Max during some sale for a few months
The cult of DHH is alive and well I see. Disappointing
This is an excellent article. DHH's toxic firehose of BS is what originally sent me looking for other languages to program in. I would be happily using Rails today if not for his diatribes in the last handful of years. I know no one in the ecosystem is going to miss me but I'm sure I'm not alone.
He really does have a way to construct the worst possible takes. He's like a discount Elon Musk
I was so happy to not really have to hear about him when moving away from Rails but apparently he has a Linux distribution that a lot of people like? DHH gets no love from this guy.
