How far back in time can you understand English? A story where each paragraph travels back in time.
Unless youโve studied middle English I doubt you (like me) will make it back further than 1200.
I wasnโt aware until this very moment that โpencil crayonsโ was a Canadianism
3yo: I want to colour, can you get my pretzel crayons?
A terrible accident โ my body pinned by twisted metal, blood pooling beneath my cheek, the wind blowing shattered glass and the stink of spilled gasoline into my face. In the distance, I hear a cheerful voice calling โJust yelp for helpโ

"Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue"
Four-factor authentication is now activated for your wedding
3yo: can I watch Spongebob Squarehead
2015: Should designers code
2025: Should developers code
Gotchaโletโs dig into that step by step.
1. ๐ฌ๐ผ๐ ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ป๐ผ ๐บ๐ผ๐๐๐ต, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. Youโre not just immobileโyouโre immortal, and you feel only anguish.
2. ๐ฌ๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ. That makes total senseโitโs a natural human impulse, and youโve been through a lot.

Hereโs The Architectโs Newspaper with a withering review of Joe Gebbiaโs โNational Design Studioโ, and what it really stands for: www.archpaper.com/2025/12/nati...
As design critiques go, this is one of the best ones Iโve read in some time.
3yo: can I step on the scale?
Me: sure
3yo: [peering at the number] is that how much I cost?
"What is the ROI of UX?" is shaped like a question, but it is actually two hostile premises:
1) that UX is sufficiently marginal for its value to be openly questioned
2) that the asker has the authority to judge this question, and practitioners are merely consulted on it, as a matter of courtesy
A old advert that has the words What the heck is Electronic Mail? With a man looking very scared by a sparkling trail flying around his desk
The first two hours this morning
A fun thing about building software is taking UX patterns like this entirely for granted, then building your own version and immediately smashing headlong into an iceberg of hidden complexity
Unpopular opinion: you don't need more willpower. You need better designed apps.

A conversation between Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani, as so: Elizabeth: This year is our year Elizabeth: We can never forget this tiger Sunny: I know. I am focused on it. Sunny: We will execute this year Elizabeth: I know. Iโm focused on it too.
That time that Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani were being pursued by a memory-altering tiger, and their plans to kill it before year-end
An image of an Ericsson Hotline, consisting of a very 1980s handset attached by a coiled wire to a bulky base with attached antenna. The whole unit has a carrying handle.
