I live by notes, always have. During 1x1s, I write everything down and share those notes afterward. 'This is what I heard. Did I get it right?' It is a simple habit, but it ensures clarity and keeps everyone on the same page.
Never skip your 1x1s. This might seem like a no-brainer for leaders, but itβs worth repeating. Your team can cancel if they need to, but I never do. These meetings are an essential space for focused conversations that build trust and keep everyone aligned.
Creating remarkable experiences is one of my favorite core values. Itβs at the heart of everything we do at @aweber.com and how we challenge ourselves. Is this good or is it remarkable? Thatβs the question that drives us forward.
A mentor once told me to wait five seconds after someone stops speaking before responding. Most of the time, what they say next is the most important. Let others speak. Itβs amazing what youβll learn when you do.
You get what you tolerate. This is one of those leadership principles you need to remind yourself of often. Itβs a reminder to set boundaries, hold high standards, and stay true to what matters most. Whatβs a principle you live by?
Regardless of TikTokβs future, donβt rely solely on social media to build your community. Platforms come and go, but email is timeless. Email provides a strong foundation to connect directly with your audience. Use social media to supplement, not replace. Future proof your community with email.
I feel a little late to the game given how fast BlueSky is growing, but Iβm happy to be here. Itβs giving early Twitter vibes and maybe what Threads is hoping to be. Excited to see where this platform goes! π
