The "abuse" usually stems from people using it in the wrong way (e.g. group chats with randoms, not doing due diligence, etc).

But again, this is not the prerogative of Chat Control. Chat control is packaged as a measure to "protect children". There's better ways to do that.

Maybe. But personally I trust Signal way more than say WhatsApp, for the simple reason that Signal is open source. (github.com/signalapp)

You do realize there are open source solutions for hobbyists that want to automate their homes, which do not require any data to be sent over the www, right? Home Assistant, OpenHAB, Domoticz being a few examples. Kind of a nothing burger of a response tbh...

Sure. But that's exactly the bowtie they tie around the turd that is chat control. They try to sell it as "a tool to protect children" while in reality it's just another step to gain more control.

Nothing online being actually private does not mean the EU should have a handy backdoor to read over peoples' shoulders. Being secure on the internet should be the people's choice and responsibility and not the governments. We do not live in Orwells' 1984.
