Thinking about all the emails we're getting from colleges and universities because of having a high school junior, and realizing that colleges are one of the only places that advertise their product and may not let you ever actually buy it.

It's like she's a one person Village People cover band.
#DearVendor did you like my LinkedIn post because of a legitimate desire to engage with my content, or do you just want to do a sales call?
His "preventative skin treatment" seems to be preventing skin fairly well.
#DearVendor inviting me to your conference dinner is like inviting your ex to a conference dinner. Because we signed a 5 year contract with one of your competitors last year. Are you sure you want me there?
Wait until he finds out about the Dalai Lama!
the 27 pay dates only happens about once every 10 or 11 years (depending on sequencing of leap years in the window)
Weird random fact: If you're paid biweekly you usually are paid 26 times a year. But if your first paycheck is issued on January 1st or 2nd, you would have 27 pay dates. Your employer may reduce the pay per check, or you might get a bonus payment.
That took me longer than it should have.

Something Happened Here, But We're Not Telling
Having a sudden moment of not being okay with 2006 being 20 years ago. I'll be fine, but it's annoying.
The power play would be for Bad Bunny to do a cover of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA" in Spanish.
I work in higher education and have a high school junior; I don't understand why random schools have signed us up for their parent newsletters. Do they really think that my child will say "well, I wasn't thinking of applying here; but they give such detailed and informative emails to parents!"
I'm attending the NERCOMP Annual Conference, March 9β11, 2026, in Providence, RI! This year's theme, Connect Locally, Think Globally, is all about collaboration, innovation, and shaping the future of higher ed.

So hundreds of people went to the premiere at The White House this weekend; and I haven't heard a single person talk about the actual film. Certainly no one has said it's any good.
One of my great concert-going thrills (and there are many) was getting to see Midnight Oil in 2017 and 2022. Rob was an incredible drummer. RIP.
This thread is about the 25th amendment.
But it is never worse for the people in the workplace, for the company, or for the nation.
It has to be done. And once it's done, things can start to get better.
It may permanently change relationships for the worse.
But it also can lead to a reckoning and a change.
Look.
Sometimes you have to confront someone who's being disruptive at work. They may be a co-worker, they may be an employee, they may be your boss.
It is super hard. It may result in the person having to leave.
Briefly despairing as I contemplate having to buy a live TV streaming service to replace terrestrial cable and wishing there were a way to exclude channels (e.g. I only want certain "news" channels).
I've decided: If I am ever sworn in to public office, I will do it over a copy of Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse-Five."
The recent spam emails from "insurance companies" are annoying but even more so at the moment because we're changing insurance companies and there have been a few actual emails about that, so I have to be hypervigilant.
If Verizon wants to make my phone stop working several hours a day and pay me $20 each time I can work with that.
At least we now know what they'll be serving in the camps.
Out of all the acronyms we use in IT, the most ridiculous one is probaly STONITH.
I feel like there must be something to discuss about Season 2 of "A Man on the Inside" from the perpective of the current state of higher education.
Crimes against humanity a mile deep. Don't normalize it.
I waited in the queue on the Justice Department website and I got tickets to . . . ew.
