If you can't be bothered, then what hope do we have?
What a speech. All I have to add is this π
That's not at all what I'm doing though. I literally said in the original post you replied to that local Labour folk tend to be good people. The intention of that post was to undo misinformation distributed by Labour.
It feels like you have generalised me as something that I'm not.
Okay, we're obviously worrying about very different things, so let's just leave that.
But is this actually what you want elections to be like? Is a bullshitting contest, where the winner is influenced by your ability to pay fines to the electoral commission, really the best we can do?
Please don't be condescending. I'm used to it from the Tories, and Reform. I expected better of Labour.
If you can't see the difference between poor bar charts and actively making stuff up, I don't know what to say. Maybe vote for a party that would end FPTP which incentivises all this crap?
Greens have been using data from independent pollsters that actually exist. You can question the sample size, presentation etc. but there's a huge difference between that and making up both a poll and a tactical voting company, on the eve of the election, to declare your party the tactical choice.
After Labour blatantly and directly lying to every constituent less than 24 hours before polls open, I'm not exactly surprised.
Just have to hope now it motivates those Green voters to get out and vote - it'll just make it even sweeter if the Greens can pull it off.
It's not just that it almost guarantees the majority of people end up with a party they don't want, but it's poisoned our political campaigns and turned them into hateful misinformation contests.
I need to wake up tomorrow to Greens celebrating on the streets, and Hannah Spencer MP on our screens π
The Gorton & Denton by-election has been a reminder of how much I despise the concept of tactical voting.
How do you feel about Labour sending out fake tactical voting advice from a made up company?
I've always found local Labour folk to be good people, but the party itself is rotten, and it's really coming to the surface now they're getting desperate.
I imagine some of the inventor billionaires would still be relatively well-known for contributions to certain fields - probably living a much happier life, still inventing stuff rather than lording over their fragile empires.
Can't think of many examples though.
Weird thought:
Imagine we all grew up in the fair and equal world of our lefty dreams.
Which billionaires would still be world-renowned for their contributions?
Anyone driven to be the best, no matter the rules of the game? Who is only there because of status and willingness to abuse power?
This might be the most underrated feed I've made: it specifically looks for words that imply talking about how to solve problems rather than just complaining about them.
Obviously not perfect, but I feel like it has a better hit rate than most of my other ones!
What's your default bluesky feed?
This is mine (and it's definitely the best one π)
What's happening where you live?
If you've hung around us the last few years you undoubtedly will have heard us go on about PlaceCal.
But what is it, why does it matter, how can you and your community benefit, and why has it taken us so long?
Let's take it from the top.
EOI!

Our co-chair Kate was present at the launch of the Local Power Plan earlier this week - she said:
βThe Local Power Plan recognises the multiple interconnected impacts that community energy projects have, and the potential for community wealth building that they offer. The Β£1bn investment demonstrates a commitment to supporting and growing this model, with a vision that βby 2030, every community in the UK will have the opportunity to own a local energy projectβ.
βThe plan builds on the knowledge, experience and success of community energy groups across the UK and the βworking withβ not βdoing toβ approach is welcomed. βThe intention to listen to what community groups are saying, and to act as a connector between various stakeholders, is positive. βIn particular the recognition of Local Authorities as key partners in the Local Power Plan, with targeted support, has the potential to make a big difference at a practical level.β
βThe longer-term ambitions to explore and support a wider range of local energy business models, for example through the Local Energy Platform and Smart Community Energy, is exciting and I look forward to seeing this develop.β As Department for Energy Secretary of State Ed Miliband MP put it: βitβs a glimpse of a different economyβ.
A glimpse of a different economy.

This year, instead of painting flags on roundabouts, can we all just go and draw chalk obstacle courses and hopscotch all over our towns instead?
I think we could all do with a little more whimsy and joy!
This is a very interesting development.
How can we build community owned healthcare that rewards prosocial people/behaviors/relationships?
Short term, mid term, & long term?
Like can people learn more than just the basics & cpr? Can we pool money for community owned drug & test libraries? Community owned HC facilities?
In places like Thembisa and the Free State, community food gardens are transforming lives. From feeding learners to providing jobs and fresh produce for families, these gardens show how local partnerships can strengthen food systems and education.
Hannah Spencer is going to be an absolute game-changer for the Green Party. Incredible speech.
Cannot wait to see her shine in this national spotlight.

Help us make hope normal again.
Join the Green Party now.
Even better than this is door-knocking for your local party, but I know not everyone is comfortable with that.
Even if you are, this is a great way to find and test effective ways to communicate with potentially confrontational people.
My personal dos/don'ts:
β
οΈ Say "I agree with..." if you can
β
οΈ Join existing conversations
β
οΈ Gently point out hypocrisies
β
οΈ Correct misinformation (w/ sources)
βοΈ Start political conversations yourself
βοΈ Preach/get upset/mad - they enjoy that
βοΈ Insult individuals
βοΈ Get ideological
