My old one was thrown away by my dad, he thought I'd abandonned it, didn't bother asking or anything. I love my dad but jeez I was annoyed...

Heh, dug out the proper service manual and the "fault" they listed it with is by design, which they would probably have figured out if they'd put an actual tape in the thing. Right channel VU meter does need calibrating though.

Cheap eBay tape deck described as "spares or repair" actually works out of the box! From the listing was expecting to have to take it to bits but it's doing all its things. Clicky buttons! Teeny incandescent lights! VU meters!

Really like writing on the Push 3 standalone, it has limitations compared to the laptop obviously but I find this sends me in different and interesting directions. Love that you can now sequence track arrangements on it easily since they sorted out follow actions.

Have to call my parents out on this regularly. Their lives are about as good as they can be, and they still get all hell-in-a-handbasket about random nonsense.

Every time I read one of these "I only drink room-temperature water" bollocks-type things it makes me want to try to replicate Hunter S Thompson's daily routine, the one that starts "3pm rise, Chivas Regal with the morning papers, Dunhills, cocaine..." etc etc
Several freelance mates of mine have had a few really bad years because former and prospective clients were happy to replace them with AI knockoffs. That will probably reverse at least partially, but most of them have already moved on and won't want to risk coming back to insecure sectors
