Does Utah need a 3rd law school? One lawmaker wants it to be at UVU Republican Sen. Brady Brammer said Utah has a problem with its supply of attorneys. To fix it, heโ€™s proposing a feasibility study for Utah Valley University to have a law school.

UVU, the school in question here, hasn't taken a position on Sen. Brammer's idea.

Do LDS temples really boost home values? Hereโ€™s what Mormon Metrics says The old adage in real estate is โ€œlocation, location, location.โ€ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints isnโ€™t any different when it comes to choosing temple sites.

"A premium of 10% to 20% at the community level for a temple is just a myth," but the church does have good real estate instincts.

Asked to prove your citizenship? For Utahns with no passport, it takes more effort The U.S. has never required citizens to carry papers, but it's possible Utahns could someday be asked to prove their citizenship to vote and to avoid detention by immigration agents.

Interesting tidbit we learned: Only 60% of citizens in Utah had a valid passport in fiscal year 2024. That puts Utah at only 10th highest of the states.

Senate passes funding deal, as lawmakers hope for only a short-term partial shutdown The deal secures funding for most of the government while giving lawmakers two weeks to negotiate changes to immigration enforcement. It still needs to pass the House, which is in recess until Monday.

Update: The Senate passed a measure to avert a shutdown on Friday. But with the House on recess, funding for broad stretches of the federal government has technically lapsed.
