Amazing.
Those are rough waters.
Code is cheap. Insights are not.
How far south??? Iβm mildly obsessed with extreme latitudes but to my endless frustration never hit either circle (Iceland north, Pataginia south). If you tell me you are going to South Georgia or Antarctica I am going to be intensely jealous.
β¦Iβm here for all dash lengths, mβn.
No idea. I no longer need those things, empirically. If I needed them, Iβd switch back briefly to VSCode, I guess?
Word of the day: diegesis

Today's realization: I do very little direct editing of files any more.
That means the main feature I care about is speed: get in, edit/read, get out.
Switched from VSCode to Zed. Immediately and obviously better.
This is our true target market.
Hmmm. Maybe we should change our website to say just SSHXDV.
Eyeball twice, cut once.
Gotta say though, those _are_ nice calves.

Chatting with the cashier, who just moved to Marin from rural Louisiana. His take: βEveryone here is super healthy, on the outside.β
Looks kind of amazing though.
(You super sure Brad didnβt late-night impulse? :P)
You are more than the worst thing you have ever done: true in life but not in miniature golf.
I definitely donβt want AI-written literature, but most code is straightforward enough, more doctorβs note than love note. (For that matter, I don't let LLMs write technical prose either.)
I bring judgment, experience, perspective, and skepticism; Opus does the grunt work.
Itβs mostly grunt work.
A year ago: yikes. Today: makes sense.
fly.io/blog/youre-a... is a pretty solid write-up. And the tooling has dramatically improved since then (Opus 4.5 in particular).
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
If you don't sit to pee, how do you check bsky?
A year ago I was only vaguely aware of the difference between the SA, the SS, the SD, and the gestapo. I now know more. It is indeed interesting! But alsoβ¦
TIL! Thanks. :)
I wonder whether a tiny bit of well-placed microcopy in the output here might help passively educate folks.
(Silence is golden but weβve already failed on that front.)
Also, whoever designs these things likes to put the designs on the butt. But the kid wants to SEE the character. (Unlike an adult who wants to be seen.) It goes on the front!
That Slack message could have been an emoji reaction.
A hill I will die on: My webcam stays off for meetings.

Sartre was close: Hell is anonymous people.
Yep, when we leave βdeveloper previewβ, billing and CC will be more prominent. And weβll do our best not to bait-and-switch our earliest adopters. :)
Filippoβs assessment is spot on. Iβll add when Iβm back at a computer later. Doing Christmas stuff for the next N hours.
as they say: don't read the comments
After reading this I gave exe.dev a shot and the combination of cheap VMs, the HTTPS proxy with passkey auth and link sharing, and the built-in LLM agent is... incredible.
Like, I know how to use each of these things individually, but combining them feels like when I first learned to script things.
