"It is essential that elected officials hear from their constituents about the value of federal funding for the arts."

Orpheus remains steadfast in our programming and stand in solidarity with other artistic entities who remain committed to their missions.
With the recent termination of our NEA grant, and the grants of excellent arts institutions around the country, we reaffirm that the arts are not a luxury for a select few, but a necessity for everyone.
Our NEA Grant Was Terminated
Orpheus has received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts regularly for ~50 years. This support has been utilized for impactful performances and community engagement across the nation.

Our thoughts are with Christofβs family, loved ones, and all the musicians who had the privilege of performing alongside him.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Christof Huebner, Orpheus violist and former artistic director. A part of the Orpheus family for 27 years, he was a dedicated musician and valued colleague, whose sharp wit left a lasting impact both on and off the stage. He will be deeply missed. β

and I'm singing Rodirgo because @orpheusnyc.org is performing it with Pablo Sainz-Villegas tonight at Carnegie, and they sounded so, so gorgeous while I filmed rehearsal

Hi there, we're Orpheus, a chamber orchestra based in New York that's been baton-free since '73.
This is a safe space for all of your conductor jokes. It's also the place where we will shamelessly plug our performances, recordings, and give you a glimpse behind the scenes.
