Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Google developer #1: "That's it. Our search engine is simple, efficient, and reliable. It's perfect. We're done."

Google developer #2, presumably: "But wouldn't it be *more* perfect if the first search result was always a robot who mansplained your search results to you incorrectly?"

Nick Offerman says it better (and funnier) than most: defunding our national parks is a disservice to the American people and to the land we all share.

The reason full 'due process' doesn't apply to immigration detention is the fiction that it's not punishment, but rather simply a precursor to deportation (also not 'punishment for a crime' under precedent). but the refusal to allow self-deportation here just smacks of punishment.

Have we checked inside the artifacts. In the museums, all the objects, have we looked inside? Maybe there's something that can vanquish this darkness. Maybe it's hiding in there

This is a really important point. Most Medicaid recipients likely have NO idea that they’re about to lose their coverage.

ICE agents scatter as SD Bishop Pham, other clergy visit immigration court "Our presence made a difference," one priest said, quoting an immigration lawyer saying their client was given more time to prepare for another hearing.

Michael Pham fled Vietnam at the age of 13. He was named bishop of San Diego a month ago.

Today, he stood watch at a courthouse: ICE agents were β€œstanding there covered with masks as we walked toward the courtroom. Eventually the agents scattered and went away”

LOS ANGELES - In partnership with the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Dodgers have committed $1 million toward direct financial assistance for families of immigrants impacted by recent events in the region.
The Dodgers and the City of Los Angeles have a proven ability to get financial resources to those in critical need, most recently seen in their efforts to aid victims of the January wildfires. Through our support of the city's efforts, the Dodgers will encourage those organizations in a similar position to use their resources to directly support the families and workers who have suffered economic hardship.
In the coming days, the Dodgers intend to make additional announcements with local community and labor organizations, including the California Community Foundation, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and others who are directly supporting our communities to aid youth and families with food insecurity, basic essentials and mental health services.
"What's happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands upon thousands of people, and we have heard the calls for us to take a leading role on behalf of those affected," said Stan Kasten, President & CEO, Los Angeles Dodgers. "We believe that by committing resources and taking action, we will continue to support and uplift the communities of Greater Los Angeles."
