Smh. Meanwhile weβre crowdfunding to survive.
Provides ICE with almost $8 billion in emergency funding, including funding to expand the capacity of detention facilities. Specifically, provides enough funding for ICE "to keep at least 50,000 detention beds availableβan increase of 47 percent from the 34,000 beds allocated in 2023, 2022, and 2021."

if you are playing dungeons and dragons, write the dang dungeon. the core of your game should be about going into a pit and killing a monster, because that's very much what the game is *for.*
the Dungeons and the Dragons, yeah.
well, the thing is you could build like... a semi hostile district like a dungeon. it wouldnt even be hard. but there's an assumption of relatively safe navigation through "civilized" areas. π€i am running a "dungeon one-shots" campaign, might try to write one

players consent to play a certain type of game, throwing trauma shit at people is good
i wrote one where i gave the cockatrice a bodak's death glare. cool combo
and therefore! write the dang dungeon
I think a lot of the "streamlined" gameplay came from these campaigns where you rest in cities all the time. Suddenly inventory management became a hindrance to more storytelling when the original idea was you need to plan your pack for an entire dungeon (video game RPGs suffer this as well)

pro tip, dont make your d&d character a clown, have her get corrupted by the god of clownz for rolling too many plot important natiral ones
you better be ready for your PCs to go buy a bunch of picks and shovels and hire a bunch of guys to move dirt to get to the other side of a door with a really stupid riddle on it. because otherwise what's even the point
once i started incorporating my irl experience walking around abandoned buildings, all my dungeons got a lot more interesting

dungeons and dragons- who often live in dungeons
if you want a step by step guide to how to design a dungeon, i found this very helpful to show my friend the steps theangrygm.com/babys-first-...
there was a change at some point, probably fueled by the 20 years of "dungeon" magazine publishing so many adventures *not* set in a dungeon, the meta kinda shifted towards these Big Outdoor Confrontations and Plots and Story Arcs... but that's another story
finding a secret hideaway was good because you could *sleep*, that was what stopped the "ten minute workday" so often complained about- where PCs do one encounter and then rest.
in previous decades, the dungeon justified itself. the random encounter tables of wandering monsters were there because players were meant to spend in game days or *weeks* inside the dungeons.
writing a dungeon is very much like writing a campaign. you dont know which way the PCs will go, so you draw the map of the whole territory

I think we should formalize the role of Rules Expert at the table, who has the role of looking up and knowing rules to aid the players at the table and lessen the load on the GM

This thread is not about whether Platner is a Nazi. Itβs about how he lies like a toddler when heβs cornered. And thatβs enough. Heβs not electable, and Susan Collins knows it. You can too, if you can read this thread, or this 18-page document. 2/
