This reminds me of a German term describing a depression brought on by your personal view of the world, which you could manifest as outwardly off-putting, but have it grounded in real world events (or as they pertain to your story) for your character.
One of the biggest challenges with my current WIP is writing a lead character who’s just a total asshole.
