Hill I will die on # 362. Grant Hart is one of the most underrated songwriters of the last few decades.
Forbes is entirely paid "guest writers" now isn't it? Does it have any authentic contributors any more?
My landlord is getting on at me about being behind on rent. Iβm worried for the future, please share this if you can. Iβm trying my best but Iβm still struggling
The Windows Thumbnail Extension is now available from openbrush.itch.io/openbrush (see the last item in the download list). This should make it much easier to rename and sort your sketches. Quest users can use this as well. Just copy over your sketches to a PC, organise them and copy them back.
I like you. You're as stubborn as i am. Almost...
> the steam frame is a strictly VR headset
Yeah. Apart from that pesky passthrough. ;)
Personally I might settle on "VR" - mainly because of the amount of effort Apple and Microsoft expended to avoid every using it. That has to be a point in it's favour.
You know. I think we're both wrong. In terms of non-techie or non-insider usage "VR" *is* the blanket term. I'm not sure any other term has gained much mindshare at all. Despite how much people like me and you like to debate the finer points...
MR is the redundant one. And (aside from some fairly obscure usages) XR preceded it. So let's pretend it doesn't even exist, eh? XR = AR+VR. Simple...
I'm going to disagree on that. And "a marketing person once claimed otherwise" isn't enough to sway me.
And I'm saying "it's got passthrough so it's XR" :)
My point is that any device with passthrough is meets most reasonable definitions of "XR" - considering that's pretty much why the term was first coined. Weather it's simply monochrome or whether the manufacturer doesn't want to emphasize that use case is beside the point.
"Strictly" it's not. I might have conceded "Arguably"
Not sure why none of you thought to just ask one of us!
If we could get our hands on a headset we'd have a better shot at getting it working.
Just updated our Github readme with all the current integrations and plugins and it looks kinda impressive all in one place: github.com/icosa-founda...
I've had a couple of emails back from M.P. Peter Kyle regarding the Online Safety Act and I can say without hesitation that the man is an idiot.
In this case it was @recroom.bsky.social but not picking on them especially.
Basically - any login that doesn't use a password manager or some other convenient way to login - especially in VR (although handheld devices also fall into this category) - is too much hassle.
Game I play infrequently in VR suddenly decides I need to re-enter my password. Me: "Well. I guess I'll never play that again..."
*sips tea* yummy good XR interactions :3
Companies trying to build a business solely on the fact they can create or display gaussian splats is a bit like trying to build a business on the fact you can display jpgs.
7,6,11,5,29,4,11,17 is strangely lacking from the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences...
Horror story idea. You start a new job. As you go for lunch you open the wrong door and it's all fuzzy gaussian splats.
Took me a while to find the link on that page. Tell your designer that your links need to look more linky. I believe the UX term is "affordance"
It's just occurred to me that LLMs have taught us something we already knew - "pretending to be intelligent can get you a long way"
I want to write a post that ends with the line "He was more Herb Alpert than Richard Alpert" but I haven't got much further than the ending.
Christ. The irony that the first like came from some reply bot for an SEO company.
