I would argue they knew exactly what they were doing, which was deliberately sabotaging needed public works programs by offering snake oil they never had any intention of delivering.

On a happy note, my daughter, 1 month post partum, finally broached the topic with her young neighbor, also 1 month post partum. Each also has a toddler. Yay, the neighbor is pro vax, her babies are vaxed, and she's anti Trump. Huzzah. Another dot of blue in East Tennessee.

A photo of my introduction to Nashville hot wings: a big piece of orange/dark brown fried chicken piece skewered w 2 slices of pickel, a side container of cole slaw, framed by pieces of triangle cut toast, with a small black bowl of a sweet melted butter sauce and edged by 3 powdered sugar covered beignets. A plastic fork rests on the chicken, which will later also contaminate the cole slaw with molten lava. The food rests on a red and white patterned paper that says Party Fowl.
On a personal note. I love phenomenally spicy food and had gotten too used to restaurants offering "spicy hot" and not delivering. FYI, Nashville's Party Fowl - don't order ghost/scorpion hot. It's .. uncomfortable
