I miss forums. I like synthesizers and video games and cameras and I really should make more things. (he/him)

Do you ever stop to think that paying taxes isn’t the problem so much as what those taxes pay for?

Not sure I want to attend the kind of nerd convention that thinks it’s competing with Coachella.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

I've been running gdcparties.com for a few years now. Some shitty company BlueberryAI decided they'd just take all the source code for the work I've done and reskin it, advertising it as their own. Jokes on them...it was still linked to my events spreadsheet, and now their website looks like this πŸ˜‰

An homage to a panel from the Achewood web comic. Phillipe, a young and eager otter, who is wearing a shirt and tie and a helmet for some reason, is happily singing a song to himself as follows:

Born... in the USA! I went to school and I got an... A!
I ate a hamburger and said hooray!
Maybe it will happen today!

The final line is obviously my addition. The art was redrawn by me and is not just a copy of the original panel. Done in black lines and halftone shading on a toned paper background.

You do not need to trouble Chris Onstad about this.

"It's not a politician's job to convince you to vote for them" may seem like an objectively insane thing to say but it certainly matches up nicely with what the DNC seems to believe, so maybe Anna is on to something here.

What the heck? Yeesh, why do we even announce games anymore? Seems like most of β€˜em don’t even make it to release (or get shut down shortly after release).

Calvin & Hobbes comic, by Bill Watterson
April 28th, 1993

Frame 1:
Calvin leans in through an open door and asks, β€œHey Dad, I’m doing a traffic safety poster. Do you have any idea for a slogan?”

Frame 2:
Calvin looks up to his dad, who is standing next to his mountain bike and adjusting his helmet. Calvin’s dad replies, β€œSure! ’Cyclists have a right to the road too, you noisy, polluting, inconsiderate maniacs! I hope gas goes up to eight bucks a gallon!’!

Frame 3:
Calvin walks away while saying, β€œThanks, Dad. I’ll go ask Mom.” His dad shouts back from off-frame, β€œWhy? That’s a GREAT slogan!”

Poster’s note: April 1993’s $8/gal would be equivalent to roughly $18/gal today (March 2026)

Seriously, if they ever make Bluesky posting awards there needs to be a category for "Best Alt Text"

One of my favorite games for years was an extraction shooter. Loved the the setting, the vibe, the lore, the methodical gameplay. Then the devs hired a director from Activision and it didn't take long for the game to stop being the game I loved.

Oh well.

(Yes, I'm talking about Hunt: Showdown)

TCA '96 was absolutely one of the worst pieces of legislation in my lifetime. And this isn't some like "oh 30 years later I guess we can admit it was bad" thing, this was obvious decades ago. I did a big research project on it for school, 22 years ago!

Just one of many reasons why Clinton sucked.

we in video games have an even greater obligation to make noise and not yield in the face of the right because our industry's complacency and cowardice is a significant catalyst for how we arrived at this outcome. angry gamers are cowards. call their bluff, every time.

Corgan is a jackass but I can’t deny his band made incredible music.

But also I’m one of the weirdos who actually likes Machina/The Machines of God.
