if you die in the game, you feel sad in real life post about co-ops, roguelikes, Battletech, guitar, cooking, gardening work in AI/ML infrastructure, python, security, SRE, k8s, robotics π΄π³οΈβπ - en/es/δΈζ - Boston

I have this one in paperback!
sometimes a band that's popular but you haven't listened to comes on random. and your estimation of several people drops quickly
basically cleared my schedule to work on #7DRL and it's 10:30 and I'm still doing chores and other obligations. there are simply too many things
no leftovers because everyone got seconds
Bowl of gumbo topped with scallions
finally got to cook this vacation
i've got still got like 3 solid days to build something on top of this - idk about it being "fun" but I will certainly have a playable game this #7DRL
bevy is great, rust is great
I am not at all an unconditional AI optimist. I think it's probably going to have multiple profoundly negative impacts on society. Most of those are going to be because it works and is effective at many things.
got the most basic atproto integration working from wasm. it opens a wss connection to jetstream to retrieve an activity feed
i'm alternating between working on the UI, the social layer, and actually making a game - hopefully each will be at least "OK" by the end
snow in March is unbalanced and OP. This is one of the most toxic metas that Massachusetts has ever seen. WOTC needs to answer for this
[my longest loudest sigh]
The Trump Administration Tried Hubrismaxxing against some Adversariods and is getting Historymogged
Caring about data? That's your first mistake
Let me just say that I also hate this guy's house style. Writes like shit!
Yes I know I can change the outputs, but I like using tools in default mode for a while before customizing them too heavily
Ex: I have an AWS Amplify config file in the repo for eventual deployment. Claude really wants to seize on suggesting speed boosts from tweaking that config... but that's not used for the dev loop at all
I'd probably be having a pretty bad time if I were a novice and hadn't previously fucked around with WebAssembly projects, know how Rust features work, know how to do binary inspection and optimization, etc.
My guess is that it's got me like 300% faster at "typing out code I already know how to write", and maybe 20% faster at "debugging issues that it can't one-shot figure out on its own".
Claude's outputs are really interesting, as someone who knows not that much Rust but a lot about roguelikes, game dev, and package management
There's been a lot of cases where it taught me something useful about Rust, but several cases where it was dead wrong in subtle and misleading ways
time to first guy
these laws are a political project by which the state attempts to assume the power to decide sex and gender, power it does not haveβand power it will express βincorrectlyβ because thatβs power, too
DHS's Office of Industry Partnership was hacked by a group called "Department of Peace" and info about ICE contracts with over 6,000 companies is now published on @ddosecrets.org!

didn't get *too* much done the first day but I have a hello world
today I'll be working on keyboard input, widgets, and other UI stuff so that I can iterate faster on the game in later days
i use rust btw
I may also be having some temperature issues because I'm in a basement adjacent to an exterior wall lol
honestly, not that bad
they got that Michael Bay music
are they hiring SREs yet or
"At around 4:30 AM PST, one of our Availability Zones (mec1-az2) was impacted by objects that struck the data center, creating sparks and fire."
how many layers of legal/execs do you think reviewed that phrasing?
i find the LLM "capabilities" debate to be almost uniquely poisoned. people who claim that LLMs cannot do things that they verifiably can arguing with people claiming that LLMs can do things that they verifiably cannot.
parametric modeling is just an excel spreadsheet, which is just functional programming
simply no way this could go wrong
