I don’t think most of the replies on that quoted post actually want an open protocol.
If you don’t want your posts to be openly accessible to others, why are you on Bluesky? This is one of the virtues of the protocol.
Would love to hear from people who oppose this.
Federation doesn’t seem capable of resisting centralization. Identifying the right network architecture seems like the harder part — DIDs, content addressing, and e2e auth are pretty well understood.
