a sleep somehow both deep and fitful
a sleep somehow both deep and fitful
which part of the Mad Max wasteland did you rule over
I love when you go for personal lettering, especially the sound effects.

I have the first Jamie softcover collection from Fantagraphics and I've read a lot of Gilbert's Palomar material.
Should I read this article if I haven't read any Locas stuff yet?
Glad to have my love for The Quick and the Dead validated.
A lesson of today is the internet makes it just about impossible to maintain equanimity. There's always something defiling my mind objects.
I'm an older GenX lady out of fucks to give and I read The Economist and The Financial Times because of their clear-eyed reporting. Give me a radio station tattoo plox.
I still think about "the indie space is indoctrinating the youth with blood libel misinformation." It's in my brain.
GenAI image of Pope Francis screaming into a microphone in Vatican Square to a crowd of face-painted metal fans shooting the horns with fucked up AI arms and fingers.
For fellow Nina Hagen fans: Fun anecdote: A zillion years ago -- think early 90s -- I won a pair of tickets to a live taping of Nina Hagen's talk show, Talkschau, that was being filmed at Joe's Pub in NYC. It included video reels of her at an ashram in India -- her Hindu name is apparently Rashmi, which means "rays of the sun." As she explained this, she hissed into the mike in classic Nina fashion "I AM THE VAMPIRE SLAYER." She was amazing in person. She was also wearing 8" platform stilettos which made her at least 7' tall -- I swear, she must be 6' and change without them. Anyway, I got there really early to get a good seat with my friend and I got to schmooze with her in English and my iffy German (I was so nervous) about Berlin in the 80s.
Thanks so much again! I plan on fighting this health bullshit and being at the WFMU Prom! ππππΆπΆπΆπ΅π΅π΅πͺπͺπͺποΈποΈποΈππΊ
And you better believe that I plan on spending my recovery time groking WFMU to the marathon max!
I also may actually get a WFMU tattoo finally, especially if they have them at the prom! I am an older GenX lady, and I am so out of fucks to give at this point. :D Really want a classic WoofMoo!
Same person who had a pro-Israel meltdown in the comments last month, plus another example of a WFMU DJ using GenAI for their header image.
I love the Katamari games but it's harder to make an argument for them since every one is basically a rehash of the first, even before the self-titled remasters/remakes.
The original was my first Playstation game. The three-part remake looks very Too Much for my tastes.
Lot easier to think of movie examples for this than video games. Resident Evil 2 and maybe Final Fantasy 7, though that one depends heavily on who you're asking.
"That is either A) not enough popcorn Or B) Way too big" "You know when someone never bought a popcorn bucketβ¦. They give you the popcorn in a standard tub as not to damage the collectible."
oh of course
To clarify my point is I wouldn't want my name associated with Steven Pinker's in print in 2026.
Are you really Canadian if you refer to Matt Johnson of Nirvanna The Band as "this guy"?
It sucks so much, both the tariff situation itself and the sense that you have to jump right away if you want something.
In December 2024, Pinker resigned from the board of honorary members of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, following the organization's decision to retract and apologize for publishing an anti-transgender article by Jerry Coyne defending the "biological reality of binary sex". Pinker accused the organization of promoting a "quasi-religious" gender ideology. His resignation was followed by those of Coyne and Richard Dawkins, and the foundation subsequently dissolved its honorary board
I was going to say I just checked Toyboxcoffin a few days ago and didn't see it listed but apparently that was a week ago already. Stunning how time goes.
In 2006 Pinker provided to Alan Dershowitz, a personal friend of Pinker's who was Jeffrey Epstein's defense attorney, Pinker's own interpretation of the wording of a federal law pertaining to the enticement of minors into illegal sex acts via the internet. Dershowitz included Pinker's opinion in a letter to the court during proceedings that resulted in a plea deal in which all federal sex trafficking charges against Epstein were dropped. In 2019, Pinker stated that he was unaware of the nature of the charges against Epstein, and that he engaged in an unpaid favor for his Harvard colleague Dershowitz, as he had regularly done. He stated in an interview with BuzzFeed News that he regrets writing the letter. Pinker says he never received money from Epstein and met with him three times over more than a dozen years, and said he could never stand Epstein and tried to keep his distance
I always think I'll enjoy Anders Nilsen's work more than I end up doing and I can't explain my ambivalence yet but learning today he considers Steven Pinker a huge influence on his thought does clarify things some.
suddenly my left foot hurts with every step
"You know who they found who was on the Epstein list? Not a joke--Nardwuar."
it's always stupider than I can ever imagine
trying to sift through everything and figure out why the DHS secretary was fired today and everyone's referencing her killing a dog if she wrote about it all the way back in 2024
Quickly skimming the news about the Steam store page and concluding that Strong Bad has entered the public domain.
They had to reupload this in order to censor the nipples on the cast of Aisling Bea's pregnancy boobs. That's comedy.
My little John Porcellino story. He's not dead, we're just having a certified comix moment.
