A nighttime shot of an opossum in a tray feeder. It looks wet, and one can see the rain coming down.
Opossum eating the last of the peanuts in the tray in the cold pouring rain. At least the hail stopped, but I feel bad for the lil' guy.

I realize I'm now of an age at which "50 years ago" and "50th anniversary of" are meaningless. For example, I have clear memories of the Spirit of '76, Freedom Train, and everything Red, White, and Blue from 1976.
Therefore, it can't be 50 years ago, because that would mean that I'm getting old π«€
A tabby cat sitting on my side of the couch. She's looking at the camera as if to say "just try to move me".
I get up to get another cup of coffee...
It's Doctor approved!
A bottle of Blackstrap bitters, from Bittercube bitters (made in Milwaukee)
Maybe this is a Midwestern thing, but damn.... Smoky Blackstrap molasses bitters is a whole thing, and I'm here for it.
A tabby cat looking directly into the camera. She is sitting in the very corner of a coffee table.
Living on the edge....
I was a few years older, and yeah, same.
Oh god, Susanna Hoff's eyes in the Walk Like an Egyptian video..... π₯΅
A black cat sitting on the floor, looking up at the photographer. The tip of his pink tongue is protruding from his mouth.
Blep.
Do not send your sons to finish what the politicians started.
A tabby cat high on the wall over the kitchen sink
I still watched.
Windy clear sky over Milwaukee as two people enjoy a rooftop cocktail
First rooftop cocktail of the season! πΉ#MKE
I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it wonβt be just as bad for those.
An Altair-Duino Altair 8800 computer to the left, complete with Blinkenlights and switches. On the right is an ESP32 dev board. Connecting them is 4 wires: 5V, ground, serial transmit, serial receive.
Adding a serial to WiFi bridge to my Altair emulator. There's a BASIC program running on the Altair to talk to the ESP32 over UART, configure/connect to a WiFi access point, then connect to a telnet server.
Not perfect, but proof of concept.
Screen capture of connection: youtu.be/PWq2H8R5fGM?...
Argh, the mistake was a bad tap (going too fast and didn't realize I selected the wrong word)

I do miss a good techno-pile.
Could not agree more, and in fact would extend the same sentiment to users of any LLM/agentic AI bullshit.
You're missing killer bees

Altair 8800 replica computer in the foreground. Behind is a monitor for a Linux computer running minicom connected over RS-232 to the Altair.
Newly built Altair-Duino booted into CP/M, running the classic Star Trek game in MBasic. Good times π
This is the Motels song that always did it for me

Molly, a tabby cat, cuddled against my lower leg. Her nose is in the back of my knee, and I can feel her breath.
She's moved closer!
A tabby cat cuddled against my lower leg. She's sleeping with her lower legs across my ankle with her nose in my calf.
Saturday night cuddles. π»
Opening the box. Well packaged, ready to start building.
Unpopulated PCB
3/4 or so assembled
Putting together an Altair 8800 kit from Adwater&Stir. Powered by an ARM, it emulates the original.
Stray cats
I remember when that one came out. So different from a lot of other songs, quickly became one of my favs. Thanks for reminding me of it
Sunset over the Pacific as seen from Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. The sun set about 10 minutes before this photo was taken at El Lagarto restaurant.
Everything may be shitty in this world, but sometimes one just needs to find a beautiful, tropical place to watch the sun go down.
A close-up of a sign outside of a Costa Rican pharmacy. It shows a drawing of a balding white-coated man, likely the pharmacist, holding a cartoonishly large capsule of medication.
I have your capsule, Tetsuo!
Timmy, a stuffed monkey sitting on a reusable boarding pass for Sansa Airlines. He's waiting at the domestic terminal of the San Jose airport in Costa Rica.
You know it's gonna be a small plane when they weigh you as well as your luggage before boarding!
