Unshielded Chrysalism
I yearn to become her,
She stands calm on wet rocks
Suppressing a shiver
From the spume in her locks
Spellbound and freebound
Her eyes on the skies
Deep sound all around
Waves nigh to her thighs
A safe life's too sterile,
She lives in this atoll
On rocks, rife with peril
That bolster her kind soul
Chrysalism found in
Vulnerable intention

If the DHS is going to intimidate Americans opposing ICE, then if enough people publicly condemn them, they will be overwhelmed. Especially those in safer countries, we can distract from vulnerable Americans and add to the numbers.
Down with ICE π

My precious attention is their
obsession
They try to entice for any
price
Yet they glower at my latent
power
I need not pay, I can turn
away
I can listen to all that
glistens
I can hear it all if I ignore their
thrall
Magic in stillness, escape in
idleness

Scared Americans, you are not alone. Many of us around the world stand at the ready to help in big and small ways, depending on our capabilities. You have one another, and many more outside your borders π«Ά

Unfortunately so true. I feel like empathy is part of the problem. Empathy is a skill, not only for the benefit of others, but for yourself as well. If you can put yourself in their shoes, you can imagine them in yours, and then do what they couldn't to prepare for the disaster that hit them first.

Moxie
What an encouraging word, and yet, so difficult to write about when just coming out of survival mode while beginning to face, that health might not be restored.
As it is bringing light to those shadow worlds of mind, and trauma, the wealth of words is suspended to give way to pure, raw feeling. Trying to avoid an impetuous deep-dive, I let it dapple rock-bottom to find importance lying underneath the tower's rubble, intimidated, and wincing.
"You matter"
Those words, once cherished, now have the effect of a scarecrow, chased by paper planes aflame.
This doesn't make sense, you say?
Keep mining for clues. You may find that logic never made any sense in this place. This is not about sinners, and saints.
Me?
I wish on a star for better sleep. Or, perhaps it was Mars.
One piece of rubble I'll keep, to remind me where I never want to go, again. A token, to remember, that I have nothing to fear, any more, because I've been in hell, and I didn't stop there.
A faint diamond drift is carried through the frost-bound night, like a silver lining, that says:
"Keep moving."
The frozen stream is slowly thawing.
Hearts are mended by quiet miracles, not by grand gestures. The dragon is silently kindling the fire for the phoenix to rise.
Soon, the violets will bloom by the river.

This is a text graphic I designed in Canva using their tools and stock images. No AI - I never use AI tools.
The background is a very blurry impression of snow and branches, with faint impressions of a branch, a dead leaf, and a green leaf behind the text.
The text is mostly green in a casual font, with the words Spindly, branch, and crumbling in brown, and the word green in a brighter green.
The text is a poem I wrote. The spacing is a bit wild to indicate pauses. In case you are using an e-reader, I will use periods in the below transcript to indicate those same pauses.
Transcript:

Shy. Crumbling. Leaf.
Asked for nothing. And got it.
Assertive. Green. Leaf.
Asked for everything. And got it.
