I think your experience might be more common, but only because academia suffers from incompetence in management. Most chairs and deans have no actual skill or training in managing peopleβ¦
Yes, we have annual evaluation reports. One odd feature: the eval schedule is calendar year, while the promotion calendar is academic year π€·ββοΈ Schedule aside, Iβve found these to be useful in several waysβ¦
Itβs a strange time for the news, but nonethelessβ¦ This Fall, I start a tenure track faculty position in my school/dept., after surviving a competitive search as an internal candidate in a teaching-track position. #academicsky #psychlaw
Same here.
βOverwhelming evidence?β Itβs almost as if theyβve read and seen nothing about the case since 1999β¦
Yup. See you there!
Thereβs a saying in Russian that translates to something like, βthe less you know, the better you sleep.β Itβs not wrong π€·ββοΈ
Sighβ¦
I never understood the need for any of this. They are adults and itβs their education.
How Iβm feeling this evening, having finally ushered the first meaningful policy change (on comp exams) through a full faculty vote, after two years of debate.

Fascinating!!

My personal observation is that many Russians have been quite literally brainwashed by their own govt-controlled media for over a decade. I wonder whether thatβs been captured in any recent studies.
Welcome to all of you joining the sky, and thanks for the follows! Itβs really wonderful to see how this community is growing of late, especially #AcademicSky and #PsychLaw
Just read that Zimbardo died 2 weeks ago. Psychology lost another giant. In 2019, I had the remarkable experience of meeting the man at APA. This will forever be one of my favorite professional memories.

Just saw this on the other site, and thought Iβd share #psychlaw

I have multiple calendars (personal, academic, family, consulting) from different platforms and integrate them all in different colors into iCal. I donβt put things on my calendar unless itβs actually for me to attend or do.
Thank you so much!
Now that I have all these brilliant new followers on here, I could really use your suggestions: for an experiment Iβm planning, I need a phone app that would allow me to securely assign participants into chat pairs, and I could get a transcript of each dyadβs chat. Any ideas?
I was just a tiny bit jealous when Miko mentioned it the other day. What a cool idea.
Thank you for including me!
This is great!! Thanks!!
I havenβt found the Crim people yet.. Can you share any of the starter packs?
I wish I could express, in proper haiku fashion, just how lovely it was to see folks, old friends and new, at #APLS2024 β¦ but Iβm afraid my travel-weary brain canβt hack it. Maybe after a good nightβs sleep. #PsychLaw
This really jives with my experience in practice. We do okay (not great) with Justice-involved youth, but essentially ignore everyone else. The result is that forensic treatment with a trauma-informed approach is rare, and actual trauma treatment is seen as counterproductive.
