increasingly beginning to believe that burn after reading was in fact a documentary
We have a 2016 Nissan Rogue that we mostly use for little hauling tasks. Eventually we'll be done with it and a PHEV Maverick would slot right into its role.
(After rewatching) and deeply affecting. Ugh.
Sad Beige has a whole series of these and they're all incredible.
Speed holes for faster brushing. Velocity = cleanliness.
Alternatively (hypothetically) use Usenet instead of torrents. It can't leak your data to outside observers unintentionally, most (all?) providers pledge to not keep logs, and even if they did pulling the data for private use without sharing is not a crime (in the US, ymmv, etc)
I like this framing a lot.
"Artificial connection to the collective subconscious" reminds me of the drummers in The Diamond Age. The motivations are even kinda similar if you squint.
It's a pretty decent romp but there are sloggy bits in each book.

One step closer to AGI. Amazing.
parallel port is _bananas_. I would imagine it'd happen over a CAN bus or something but I guess if you're a car maker you want to make life as difficult as possible for someone trying to do that thing.
Listening to "How the World Works" by Bo Burnam for no particular reason at all.

Hi yeah this is your captain speaking. Our scheduled departure time for the rapture has been delayed due to paperwork. As soon as that paperwork is squared away we'll be on our way. Thank you for your continued patience.

I will not grieve people whose only connection to my life is through the wrongs they have done. I owe them nothing and I reserve the right to celebrate how their death makes my life an inherently better place. That doesn't make me their killer, that simply makes me someone they cannot wrong again.
Excellent.
My favorite induction cooktop trick is to pre-boil a pot of water then set it to the "warm and hold" setting. Then whenever I'm ready to start the pasta I just set it back to high. Bam instant boiling water.
...is what I'd say if I disagreed with Thomas. I don't, he's 100% correct and the whole thing is a grift.
It's extremely capital intensive on a level not seen since the railroad buildout. That implies investors, and not just savvy ones that think like you, you also need the dumb money. Investors demand at least a prospect of a path toward ROI. The public APIs and the "any day now" rhetoric are a sop.

gamut = entire range or series
gauntlet = severe trial
Gambit = Alpha-level mutant who can convert potential energy to kinetic energy

Can't forget the Flamethrower, a The Boring Company joint.
Yeah that's completely fair.
I, personally, would not want an internet connected toaster oven. The 900 is blissfully unconnected and just does what it says it's going to do.
Yeah thirded. We have been using a Breville BOV900BSS as our primary cooking appliance for going on four years. It's reasonably small, fast, consistent, easy to clean, and versatile. It can air fry with the included basket, then we throw the basket in the dishwasher.
Iain M Banks has a pretty good passage about this in Look to Windward. www.goodreads.com/quotes/10209...
