But I do think that's the exception that proves the rule. There's not enough outreach (at least towards the most important digital regulators on the planet, here in Brussels) on behalf of the entire ecosystem. In fact I don't think there's any.

Bluesky's 40m+ users is more than enough - cf Fediverse's visibility, with a fraction of the users & all apps dependent on one dominant company.
In any case, should we expect the Bluesky team to promote the ecosystem? Would it be better if it was someone more independent of the dominant player?

Anyone can join. You get exact same features as Bluesky, login the same way, etc. And see all the same posts. So why move to Eurosky? It’s run by a European non-profit, on European servers & bound by European laws (eg GDPR).

Yep, it's built on technology others have been developing for years, but if you only listened to them you'd think they'd developed something entirely new, and entirely European.
That wasn't a lapse, it was a deliberate comms strategy, and it's working.
The fediverse is similarly adept, btw.
... multiple brilliant announcements of new ideas, products and services, particularly leading up to Atmosphereconf2026.
But no one's talking outside our bubble to people making important, relevant decisions this year.
So the field is open to those who understand comms better than technology.
