That Sylvester LP!
*takes long drag on a spaceman cigarette* Erica Stanford is my pick for new National leader, not because she'll be any good in the role, but because it will make rancid old Chris Bishop who's always fancied himself a future Prime Minister seethe with jealousy
b) their argument that social scientists and psychologists are interested in defining 'conspiracy theory' in the ordinary language sense don't seem to have paid much attention to the definitions in that literature
The gist of the paper is that philosophers who argue we should define 'conspiracy theory' along ordinary language lines a) don't seem to agree amongst one another what those lines are (despite citing one another) and...
My paper, "Two Problems with Ordinary Language Generalism" is now with the production department at Erkenntnis, awaiting publication online (this might take a month or so, potentially delayed by the lengthy process involved in getting my university to pay an open access fee)
I'd be happier with the poll numbers if I thought that Labour was going to do more than tinker at the edges when back in power
Actually, let me clarify that: for our generation we probably remember that particular run moreso than the episodes beforehand. I know I had watched some #DoctorWho before the 1985 run that started with "The Mind Robber" but I didn't become a regular watcher until that 1985 run
This was in New Zealand? If so, it probably wasn't a UNIT story. You can see a list of the episodes that played in 80 and 81 here: doctorwho.org.nz/archive/time...
Yep. @paulscoones.bsky.social has the details on this, but for our generation most of us started with a few black-and-white Troughtons before launching into the Pertwee seasons
That being said, more of the animated stories should look like this one.
It's also possible you've conflated two stories: "Robot" has bunkers in it and "The Ark in Space" has the green skin that infects people. The stories played back-to-back so it's possible you're remembering them as one longer story
That's probably "Terror of the Zygons."
I donβt think Iβve ever said this about an episode of classic #DoctorWho but I donβt see a reason why Iβd ever rewatch #TheCelestialToymaker
And yes, I know itβs βNot all politiciansβ but unfortunately itβs almost all politiciansβ¦
I agree with all of this. The problem is that politicians and other elites are in a social class where solidarity with one another is other is more important than effective governance
I can see why you ignored the advice then!
Was the career advice to not get foam crates kicked into oneβs head?
"The CIA conspired to make me less cool than I was when I was 25" is the most succinct Gen X manifesto I've ever heard
#TheLandOfFiction was a much better version of this idea
The animation for #TheCelestialToymaker is great, but it canβt cover for what is a mostly lifeless #DoctorWho story
For those wondering, Hotchkiss was explicitly founded as a feeder school for Yale which banned women until the 1970s.
Graham Platner is in every reasonable definition an elite cosplaying as a member of the working class, something Trump did to remarkable effect.
It's all vibes for y'all out there
Billy Corgan used too many words to claim the great replacement theory means black guys stole his job (hip hip is more popular than rock)
In Defense of Effeminate Boys If anyone had suggested that I might really be a girl, I donβt know how I would have responded. By Ben Appel
If medical authorities have a rigorous way of distinguishing effeminate boys from transgender kidsβor of distinguishing transgender kids from proto-gay kidsβthey arenβt saying. I have met a number of detransitioned gay men who tried to live as women for a time because they and their families were so averse to homosexuality. According to a 2019 report in The Times of London, staffers at Britainβs foremost gender-identity clinic joked darkly that, as a result of the facilityβs work, βthere would be no gay people left.β A statement last month by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons noted that there is no validated way to assess whether a childβs gender distress will persist over time or disappear without medical intervention. A lack of good research and recordkeeping means that we may never know how many patients who would have been considered effeminate gay boys not so long ago have undergone medical treatments for gender dysphoria.
Absolute trash. The author did not speak to a single medical professional and the article does not contain a shred of evidence that effeminate gay boys are being bamboozled into thinking they're trans.

untrue and trivially easy to check. I really don't like her and other people who do this shit for this reason. fearslop and rageslop aren't excused when they're in service a population legitimately experiencing some real shit, they're worse! those are the people who need accurate info the most.
You said βWhat if I turned into a dolphin?β I was the one who suggested defenestration!
Itβs a whale of a time!
Luxon would do anything for love, he could not be clearer, but he wonβt do that!
Imagine if your lifeβs goal was to defenestrate a dolphin?
You have created such amazing content. I still think regularly about you and Luke doing your thing in those #AmongUs streams
