That’s kinda their whole approach to faith. It’s transactional and magical. If I say the right words, demonstrate hate for the right people, and vote for the right candidates, God will use his magic to safe me, punish them, or destroy the world in a glorious fireball that’s God’s will.

Out of all the daily horrors, I think this story disturbs me the most. A bunch of religious fanatics are knowingly trying to end the world to fulfill some biblical prophecy.

He’s not protecting others; he’s protecting himself and hiding. You can see plenty of people at the entry door, ready to take on the insurrectionists, but not Markwayne.
Took a friend to the ER a month or so ago. She had pain but would t take anything. When the Dr. asked why I joked that she didn’t want to take Tylenol because of fear of autism. He looked at me like I was crazy! Then realized I was joking. But she took the pills.
