Something relevant to a question I asked yesterday.
Okay, these clowns drew up smeary dossiers full of wild horseshit allegations against these journalists - whatever they could cobble together - then sent them to the authorities, claiming they were traitors. Thatβs known. But are you saying they did the same thing *twice*? Thatβs utterly insane
Josh Simons MP O @joshsimonsmp X.com This is an imp thread by @adamlangleben who gave a lot to expelling antisemitism from @UKLabour. I was 22 when I went to work for Corbyn - angry about class, privatisation, agency work. I never thought being Jewish was relevant. Eve since, ppl around Corbyn have been after Jewish friends and colleagues who worked to bring the EHRC case. They want to rewrite the history of what happened. Here is the truth. The EHRC investigation had to meet a high legal bar to even happen. The Met Police was the only other organisation who met it. That is the depths to which the Labour Party sank. The oldest hatred is never far from the surface. Most journalists, politicians, and citizens in this country know that.
Trust me bro, nothing suss happened here - The MP that just had to resign for setting investigators on a bunch of journos who wrote about Labour Together taking big bungs; told the spooks that they were working with the Russians, and quietly told MPs and other hacks those journos were traitors.
This is appalling. The Home Office rejected an appeal from the foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, that would have protected outstanding students in some of the worldβs most dangerous countries from changes to the UKβs immigration system

Again, the business of British newspapers is in large part just recruiting and exploiting the most bizarre cranks you can find for your horrible, unrelenting reactionary projects. IIRC the one on the right here is the daughter of a Times arts columnist, who is also a committed Gender War wacko.
The reason the middle-class media has not reported Hannah Spencer being attacked by right-wing transphobes is that it needs to preserve the nice, coffeee-round-the-kitchen-table, middle-class view of transphobia, not the thuggish fascist reality.
The BBC goes to some length here to avoid stating that Spencer was harassed. We are told that the protest 'turned violent'.
No culprit is indicated beside in the Green's spokesperson's statement and no mention of Spencer being targeted is made.

With Margaret McMillan, quite pertinent right now.
The NHS has now stopped all medication - puberty blockers and hormones - for trans minors. For most, unless they get drugs from other sources, this means a lifetime, in an increasingly violent and transphobic society, unable to pass. Under Wes Streeting NHS policy is harm and death for trans people.
Labour's core voters, on which its re-election entirely depends, are crystal clear about this: they absolutely hate its illiberal, intolerant, draconian, rightwards turn. Hence the total collapse in support. So how does the government respond? #SuicideMissionπ€¦ββοΈ

But, rather than receiving a formal invite to meet Trump, Farage was in fact invited to Mar-a-Lago by a member of the club, according to multiple people briefed on the matter They said Farage had hoped he would be able to catch Trump for a conversation as the US president was scheduled to travel to Mar-a-Lago that evening. However, Trump had a change in his itinerary and decided to stay instead in Doral, about an hour`s drive away The Reform leader's failure to secure an audience with the US president underscores a weakening of ties between the two populist leaders who famously formed a close friendship in the vears before and after the 2016
Massive humiliation for Farage, who tipped off the UK press that he was flying to Florida to have dinner with Trump... only for Trump to decide he had more interesting things to do when Nigel arrived.
love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

This goes hard
The home secretary talks about her reforms to the asylum system, including reprocessing applications every two and a half years, as a means to end "pull factors" for refugees. This shows a disturbing lack of awareness about the current system. The majority of those seeking asylum who we work with come to the UK because they have existing ties to this country. It is where they feel the safest in rebuilding their lives after fleeing war and persecution. Despite the home secretary's claims to the contrary, the Home Office has neither the ability nor the resources to implement this policy in a workable way. We already see initial applications taking more than a year. To increase the number that need to be reviewed is unfeasible and costly. Not only that, it would leave people seeking safety and security in limbo, at more risk of becoming undocumented and exploited. This is a policy that is not supported by evidence, and instead has been designed to grab headlines with no thought to the harm it causes those individuals who hoped that they may find some safety here, and the economic and social costs to all of us. Daniel Sohege Director, Stand For All
My response in the Guardian to the Home Secretary's changes to asylum rules, and the utterly false claim that Labour's hostile and Inhumane anti-asylum policies reduce "pull factors".
peaking to a left-wing think tank, the home secretary argued that the sheer scale of low-skilled migration in recent years β including the vast, fraud-ridden expansion of the health and care visa β will not only be a substantial fiscal negative for the country, but is deeply unfair for the existing working class, who will find themselves paying not just through their taxes but via pressure on social housing and NHS waiting lists. βIt is essential,β she argued, βthat the privilege of living in this country for ever is earned, and not automatic.β
