I think I just figured the proper way to approach Swift & SwiftUI development. It helps!

I'm now on Tahoe on most machines. For the most weird reason, I'm working on server stuff and need the Span's, and I can only really develop with them, when the host OS also has it.
Xcode really needs Linux as a run target.
You can identify the regular MacBook's by the M generation, like it's the "M3 MacBook Air" or the "M5 MacBook Air".
But the "MacBook Neo" doesn't have that. So next year we might get the "The New MacBook Neo" or maybe the "The Neo MacBook Neo"?
We actually also need an MacBook 17 Pro Max. (as pointed out elsewhere, we had the weird situation last year that Apple shipped an MB 17 Pro alongside an MB 16 Pro Max π)
Maybe they should name the MacBook's similar to the iPhones, this would be my lineup:
- MacBook 17e (what they call the Neo, cheap but good entrypoint)
- MacBook 17 (the brick they call the MacBook Air, excellent regular laptop for everyone)
- MacBook 17 Air (a thin and light, but pricier [β¦]
@jn I would call it "linting"

@mackuba.eu Some pics. What they don't capture is how light it is.
@mackuba.eu Maybe I can do a few side-by-side pics when I'm at home. They are entirely different form factors, IMO.
@mackuba.eu It's not very light and thin compared to the MB 12" at all, to be fair those generations MB's have been cheating a bit w/ the flattening design. The MB 12" was 920 *grams* (vs 1,2kg).
@mackuba.eu I also have an MBA, it's a good device, but not the thing I'm looking for in a laptop. When I'm on the couch or on the go I want it light and thin. If power would matter to me, I'd just buy the MBP.
I'm sad that the Neo didn't end up as a new MacBook 12". Same weight as the Air, it's actually even *thicker* than the MBA.
Still a very good deal. Just not the thing *I* want π₯²
You know what else you can get for ~$3300 β¦ a whole set of displays that you can place around your house, wherever you like. Plus a 10000x2880 ultra wide display.

Is that account actually run by Apple π€

The Pro Display XDR is discontinued? Thatβs kinda weird. Maybe because they canβt make a 120Hz one yet?
@emorydunn What a beauty, but at least the display is cheap. No wait, $3300 and then this? π
(the 32β XDR does have a proper mount, so they are technically capable of producing that well)
But what does the VESA mount adapter look like? π

Seems like I have to downgrade to Tahoe if I want to be able to develop on my 6.2 server side code using Span on my Mac π
Maybe the new Studio Displays could have VESA mounts that donβt look like that. Seems more important than 90Hz β¦
@feijoa I think my favourite is the Helicarrier (76042). I also really like the Tumbler (I think 76240). I missed out on the first one and regretted that, and was super happy when they later redid the thing.
I generally like walkers and mech, the larger Ironman but also the Starwars walkers. But [β¦]
@feijoa Hard to say. Itβs pretty big and the wings do the wing thing, Itβs really not bad. Just not awesome.
